I think I've discovered a new technique for trance induction, and I would like as many people here as possible to experiment with it and post feedback.
As a self trained hypnotist (read; has no professional training), I find my strength comes from my lack of experience, forcing me to be creative in my approach.
So, one afternoon, as I failed to induce a trance on a friend/volunteer who went into a laughing trance and couldn't stop giggling everytime I ran script on her. To prevent this from re-occurring, I wanted her attention to be directed elsewhere while I communicated directly with her unconscious mind, so I borrowed from the "speed reading" training strategies and asked her to read, out loud, a puzzle question (which would take aprox 30 sec to read) and while she did that I simply sat across from her and asked her to feel relaxed, her eyes to get heavy to be unconscious NOW. (actually it's more words than that, but you get the idea)
To my surprise, that's all took, her reading slowed down drastically, and as I said "NOW" her eyes glazed over, she then closed them and went into trance. And it was much easier from that point on.
I've used this on 5 other people with varying script, but with similar success. All were hypnotised.
Since then, I’ve been informed that it's similar to self hypnosis/subliminal audio, and I guess that's true, but I couldn't find any that specifically occupied the conscious mind, cognitive thought (as she was thinking about the puzzle), and motor-neuron function (reading out loud) all at the same time, while planting suggestions to induce a hypnotic state.
What I'd like, is for confirmation from trainers, that this indeed, isn't a technique already in use (by others) and some feedback from other hypnotists on how well this works in comparison to other inductions... in terms of effectiveness, speed, ease, rate of success, etc...
ps. I know that laughing uncontrollably is, in fact, a trance phenomenon, but it wasn't the desired state in this particular case, hence, my initial attempts are considered "failed"
pps. the trance induced with "the Freemynd induction" as I like to call it for now is light, and requires additional scrip for the subject to go deeper. It is however, in my limited experience, the fastest and most consistent induction.
ppps. If this is, indeed, a new discovery, feel free to use it, pass it on, adapt it, improve on it and even claim it as your own if you wish. I believe ideas are born free and cannot be "owned" by a person, therefore, I can't say it is MY idea, just as I would laugh at anyone who claims "ownership" of any other idea.
All comments are welcome, especially those from people who actually test it.
