Do any of you have a specific strategy for the long lasting physiological sufferings of Menopause?  i.e. hot flashes, sweats
Any specific pointers are greatly appreciated.  Specific suggestions to the body?

Thank you!

Hi Cheryl

There's a couple of things I use, one is the apposition of opposites technique which you might have come across in your training. The other is using the control room of the mind metaphor, find what controls the symptoms and turn them down. Find out what the client thinks would help them e.g. to visualise walking in a cool sea or river. You can also help them learn to tolerate the sweats etc., so that they don't form so much of an issue. In doing so you help them respond in a different way. I know that I find that if I say to myself (cos I'm at that age!) cool water - and let myself just go with the symptoms they go off before you know it. Time flies when you want it to.

One client of mine imagined herself paddling in the sea and her switch was an orange button that she pressed to turn off the symptoms. It worked.

Hope that helps.

Hello Anne,
Thank you! Could you explain about the apposition of opposites. The other you describe is what I would do without a better approach, but I am wanting to know about this.

Joy,
Cheryl
