I'm looking for a good deal (aren't we all?!) with a merchant account in the US.
I'd like to hear your stories about merchant services. The good, the bad and the ugly!
Do you use them? Who would you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

I have been researching this for a while myself and still have not made a decision. I have an excell spreadsheet going of various companies and charges. There are many plans and many costs and it depends on the frequency of useage, etc. I will be following this post for some better insight.
I have a merchant account provided by Costco, in my research is the most convenient and the least expensive
I accept only master and visa, the machine I found it on ebay for 150 bucks.
Hope this help

Interesting you should ask. Just to day I got a recommendation from a fellow entrepreneur for a company he just raved about:

www.ABusinessStore.com

My friend said he paid $150 for the machine (new), $5 a month, 20 cents per transaction, and 1.7%. That should help you compare.

Best of luck,

James
Michael - Costco eh? I'll have to look into that. I've been warned you take your chances buying machines from eBay. I'm glad you found an honest seller.

James, just curious - does your friend own the machine outright, or does he have to give it back when he closes the account and does he incur any penalties for closing within the contract period?
Hi , yes my machine was new too and compatible with costco which supply the service for 1.6% per transaction with Visa
and Master Card and 25 cent per swipe, at that time was the most convenient ,but than again here in California Los Angeles county, it depends where u are.
Cheers
Michael
