Some good news -
Many people who have motion sickness...in combination with a 'fear' of something - the motion sickness can be greatly reduced by tackling the fear and learning to relax. Because when we are anxious...our blood vessels constrict, particularly important when this happens in the inner ear... which increases the vertigo feeling. Letting the client know that...basically, just by relaxing - you help yourself to have less symptoms. Also, I have found that by relaxing...it also relaxes your eyes. When a person is already susceptible to motion sickness...darting eyes DO NOT HELP. Again, relaxation helps this.

I just had this same kind of client (fear of flying with motion sickness)...where all I did was focus on the fear of flying, feeling relaxed and calm, feeling balanced. That was pretty much it and SHAZaaaaMMM!! ~grin.

Things to consider -
Knowing what the problem is can help you to focus on what may help. For example:
Motion sickness many times is an inner ear thing (my client had inner ear issues). Some people have real small tubes and any time they get congested, say...from a cold or allergy, it can make problems happen. Bodies more toward Alkaline rarely get congested. So...the fact that they are congested (if that is the case) could be an indication that they are eating too much crud. ~grin
Crud = Acid body. LOL
Oh boy, I got off on a tangent, oops! My point...
where was I....
Oh, ya... or maybe... it was...
Vessels that constrict, when we are nervous, REALLY affect the inner ear.
Also, more things to consider - I believe you can find studies on vestibular function and those with abnormally good vestibular function have an increased chance of motion sickness. (I think, but I am not sure because it isn't my area of interest, that this is were the eye movement comes into play with motion sickness).

Just sharin' info.

Thank you Donna - lots of good stuff here !!!
Your reply posted before I was done with my reply.
(I am laughing)
Just know...when I post - I usually edit a good million times before the 15 minute deadline hits. - I am just SURE I have something else to say.
I am also sure...that if someone hits it just right, they might get 5 different answers before my time is up. LOL
Or maybe I said, affect instead of effect.
Or maybe I post...premature.
I'm a premature poster.

What a great chuckle that is.

P.S. If my 15 minute time isn't up yet...I may change this answer!
Hi Kenda,
In my experience I found very successful the desensitization of the fear of flying which in reality is a phobia developed
later on in life and possibly not caused by a trauma. So find out when it developed to make sure is a phobia then procede with the induction and bring the client down quite a bit (is not necessary the somnabulistic state) when they are very relaxed and emotionally calm start with the hypno-drama make them visualise to buy the tickets going to the airport,
sitting in the waiting room board the plane and take off, you know that anxiety and relaxation they cannot coexist at the same time so they will be fine, repeat the process 2/3 times asking for ideomotor response lifting a finger when they feel anxiety coming up , using double binding the harder you try to feel anxiety the harder is to feel it, untill they cannot feel anxiety at all being on the plane.
I hope this will help if you have any questions feel free to contact me I will be more than happy to answer you.
Cheers
Michael
Excellent stuff Michael - I thank you.

Would I be able to work the motion sickness into this talk as well.
I think we are safe. 15 minutes is up !!! (lol)...
same thing make them visualise a situation where they feel motion sickness and desensitize in the same way 2/3 times until they cannot feel it anymore.
Let me know
Cheers
Michael
