Could anyone suggest or post a free Mp3 for fear of flying? I'd like to have one to utilize for a family member to use to prep for a flight to europe next month. Thanks in advance.

Hi John,

If you are going to recommend that your relative use an MP3 recording - I recommend that you suggest making a customized recording for him or herself and help them with the script or you might consider an out of the box - Ten Minute Solution-

Pre-talk/Set UP
Chat em up -- find out if your relative is really afraid of flying or maybe he or she is afraid of being out of control? Maybe he or she is simply afraid of the confinement... Some people are afraid of take offs, others are only afraid of landings. I had a client who was afraid of not being able to smoke for several hours. Find out exactly what your relative is afraid of and then suggest that you can teach them a self-hypnosis technique that is much more effective than any MP3 could ever be -- Share that you are amazed @ how effective this technique is... (There is magic in your enthusiasm)
The Ritual:
Teach them to create a safe place - Now it is safe to get in touch with their feelings about being afraid of flying and feel the fear and anchor it -- Break state - Have them create a resource state where they are at peace with the world and anchor that. Break state -- Fire both anchors at the same time and suggest doing so has neutralized the negative emotional charges that they had about flying. Now reinstall a resource state that allows them to instantly and automatically feel are calm and at ease whenever they want to. Now do some future pacing having them see themselves actually enjoy their flights -- Blah, blah, blah... Bring them back-
Post Ritual-
Suggest that many people find that just experiencing the technique that you just taught them neutralized their concerns - and have them try to re-connect to those unwanted feelings to notice the shift that they have experienced... Remind him or her they have a post hypnotic tool that will automatically help him or her feel calm and at ease - any time that they want to.

John,
I agree with the above. Collapsing anchors is a fairly effective approach.

I'm guessing your family member won't let you do a fast phobia cure with them?

John
Thank you Michael. If you would John, could you tell me more about how you'd use the fast phobia cure?

"I agree with the above. Collapsing anchors is a fairly effective approach."

It's not the approach John - it's the skills and abilities of the person using the approach - Collapsing anchors is VERY effective when used by masterful hypnos like Marc and myself =^..^=

@ John S.

You're welcome-

Sure John,

I am using the assumption you are already familiar with structure of the fast phobia cure.

First, as Michael said, you specifically identify what the fear really is about, no sense in removing a fear of flying if it's really a claustrophobic feeling of being trapped inside an airplane.

Once you have that, have them think of a situation that will cause the feeling to occur, and verify that they do experience the fear (at least a little). Once you have done that, you can start your fast phobia cure.

Make sure that the movie you have them create starts them off in a safe and secure place, and then encountering the fear event, and then ending in a safe and secure place again.

Do an ecology check after they have done it back and forth 5 times, and when comfortable, move them progressively more closely involved with the fear event (i.e. from the projection room to the audience etc, depending on where you start them).

Until finally, you have them experience the movie first person, at normal speed, describing to you what they are experiencing and how they feel, each step of the way, and there is no fear feeling.

A lot of people feel it necessary to get different modalities involved in the movie, what they hear, smell, vivid colors, etc. but I have found that not to be necessary.

This appears to work on the principle of familiarity without threat, aka getting used to it via repetition. We learn things two different ways; either by exposure to a perceived threat (real or imagined) which only takes one time, or by repetition.

This re-learns the reaction to the event by constant repeated exposure without any detrimental effects, also referred to as "conditioning". The same as if you were scared of what you thought was a ferocious dog, yet every day it would come to you to be petted. Soon, you would no longer be scared at all.

I hope this helps you
John
