Hi guys.
I'm writing a report which has to be in on Tuesday which will be submitted to GP consortia commissioners (along with a whole bunch of other stuff from other services) so that they can decide which services to keep, which services they want, which services they want to trash and let go.
Unlike the last time I asked for your help, I don't get to present and they don't feel compelled to 'look into my eyes' and spend millions of pounds that I would obviously make them part with if they gave me half a chance... ;-P The report has to do the talking.
In a blog post, I have already mentioned that there is some strong negativity from powerful members who have never interacted with me, my patients or my service, and who want it discontinued.
I have 93% of patients who have improved their symptoms. I have sexy graphs and positive patient comments, a testimonial from a GP referrer who thinks the service is invaluable... I have many happy patients with all sorts of successes... I just don't know whether they will commission the post permanently. It will save thousands of pounds (all that's in the report too).
What I need now is your love... The love and support that got me the job in the first place. The love and support that got me the extension which ends September 30.
Please. Dig deep into your wells of love and help me to continue to help others.
Thanks :-)
Ever-humbled by the strength of peoples' kindness,
Henxy XXX

Let’s start with love, and what a wonderful place to start.
And now some appreciation.
Make that self appreciation.
Appreciate yourself for the passion and compassion, for the all the good you do.
Remembering that it is always powerful to be in tune with what is good.
Mindset.
It is beneficial to see all sides, all possibilities, all consequences to a point. And then there is the time to amplify the positives while still appreciating the good that the negatives have done to keep just the right balance.
Amplifying the positives is not just to make you feel good, and it’s not just a handful of affirmatives, it’s amplifying the positive feelings from the world of beliefs, it’s setting the vibrations of your universe.
Allow what is working against you to melt away leaving the focus and direction pure to achieve your goal.
See it and feel it.
Let’s see if this works, I’m feeling how good for the world, and for people in need, what you do is, and that feeling takes me to a place in my world where I keep good feelings, where I keep positive motivation, where I keep an inner drive that has a tendency to radiate out into the worlds of others. Sometimes you have to close your eyes for a second or two, to start feeling it too, that’s right, that’s it.
Good luck.
With much love,
Your friend Steve

Kelley, (who will next hug my boss 'cause she gives me anything I want!)
PS ~ There was a friend of a friend on FaceBook who was recently in a similar dilemma in England. I recall she was being stymied by one stick-in-the-mud MD who refused to refer his IBS patients and belittled her work to the powers-that-be. She was quite frustrated.

Report submitted... Fingers crossed...
My patients have highly statistically signfiicant paired t-test, p<0.000001 improvement results for their symptom severity scores...
They have paired highly statistically signfiicant paired t-test p<0.000001 results for their IBS quality of life improvement scores...
They have highly statistically significant paired t-test, p<0.00001 results for their general quality of life improvement scores...
Oh, and I save the NHS quite a few thousand pounds...
With figures like these, I shouldn't need luck... But with prejudice like the service has experienced, it may well take a miracle.
Good job I believe in miracles! ;-)

You may already know this...its possible to calculate an effect size statistic for the t test, which actually interprets the practical significance of the differences between the mean scores that you are comparing. The process involves subtracting the mean scores and dividing the difference with the standard deviation of the pret test scores. I know that you have already submitted the "report", but you might consider sending an addendum. The effect size statistic is usually between zero and about 3. An effect size of 1 would mean that on average the scores in the post test where 1 standard deviation higher than the pretest scores. An effect size larger than one is considered an important improvement when you are examing treatment difference from pre test to post test. The other statistic (the p value) simply means that you have a statistical difference between the means which can't be attributed to sampling error, but it doesn't address the magnitude (actual importance) of the difference.
I am more than willing to provide additional help - if needed.
Good luck!
