Hi guys.
I'm writing a report which has to be in on Tuesday which will be submitted to GP consortia commissioners (along with a whole bunch of other stuff from other services) so that they can decide which services to keep, which services they want, which services they want to trash and let go.
Unlike the last time I asked for your help, I don't get to present and they don't feel compelled to 'look into my eyes' and spend millions of pounds that I would obviously make them part with if they gave me half a chance... ;-P The report has to do the talking.
In a blog post, I have already mentioned that there is some strong negativity from powerful members who have never interacted with me, my patients or my service, and who want it discontinued.
I have 93% of patients who have improved their symptoms. I have sexy graphs and positive patient comments, a testimonial from a GP referrer who thinks the service is invaluable... I have many happy patients with all sorts of successes... I just don't know whether they will commission the post permanently. It will save thousands of pounds (all that's in the report too).
What I need now is your love... The love and support that got me the job in the first place. The love and support that got me the extension which ends September 30.
Please. Dig deep into your wells of love and help me to continue to help others.
Thanks :-)
Ever-humbled by the strength of peoples' kindness,
Henxy XXX

Thanks for your input there. It's really kind of you to offer to help.
My report (sumbitted Tues; and there's a snowball's chance of anything in addition ever being acknowledged after one of these deadlines) contained sexy little graphs using CI, and depicted using box and whisker diagrams, and explaining the results.
I think I got the balance about right between blinding them with science, and seeming to make unrealistic, unsupported assertions about the success of my patients. Commissioners (interestingly) don't tend to have much to do with stats.
On the one hand, one person said that lots of services need to be cut due to the budget restrictions, suggesting that a hocus pocus service would be one of the first to go... then, when given the figure of £2 per patient to provide 2 CDs, some info printouts and photocopies of blank questionnaires, she said that it was 'too cheap'.
As people from the other side of the pond to me say, 'go figure!'.
