The more I study this movie and hypnosis the more I really believe this movie outlines hypnosis more than any other.

Movies are supposed to do that. I found it to be just another example of a flower or two surrounded by manure.

The movie referred to is called "office space". It came out in 1999 and is a comedy about a guy whose girlfriend drags him to a hypnotherapist because he hates his job so much. The hypnotherapist puts him in trance and tells him that he no longer worries about his job.. it is nothing, etc. and then in the middle of the trance they hypnotherapist dies of a heart attack.

The rest is pretty funny, but not very accurate.

What movie please?
I am interested but do not know too much what movie are you talking about:)
Please help:)
John I disagree I think it could be extremely accurate.

Peter really wanted not to care about anything and had his mind up to change, He did not like his girlfriend and was also going to dump her.

Listing to the inferred suggestions given from the hypnotist before he died it is possible for a person like Peter to give himself permission to let go of life and focus on his own happiness.
I love this move, it is hilarious.
Ian, buy it in Eastern Europe you will pay far less. I actually have a copy dubbed in Russian so its hilarious. Ya gavarite paruski.
Great movie! (A cult movie for my friends & fellow geeks; lots of humorous references and line-quoting at random times.) I've only seen it once... must see again...

BTW: I own a T-shirt with the image of a red swingline stapler on it, and the word 'Mine'.
Ah.. but do you have your 15 pieces of flair? LOL

Here is a bit of the feel of the movie:

I love that movie, the definition of life if you just want to have a good time!

It's inaccurate because he stays a bit to long in the state of hypnosis, it eventually wears off after a couple of days.
But that's why it's fiction! And I love fiction!
Office Space, while hilarious, is a great example of reinforcing the myth that a person can get stuck in hypnosis. In fact, it's usually the example I reference when I explain to clients that they can't get stuck.

As is typical of big screen, I think it is accurate while being inaccurate -- for the sake of the screenplay. If this movie were "more realistic" the audience would be bored watching Peter's life change over time in a more realistic manner. The screenplay does what screenplays do... take shortcuts to the finish line.
I must have missed the part when anyone got stuck in hypnosis no one even implied that suggestion.
What I saw is Peter was stuck in a dead end life and after his hypnosis session he was able to overcome what he needed to become happy.
