As some of you know, I do not work with Medical Issues very often and that I work with Behavior Modification most of the time. Now I could use some input with this: A client to who was one of my life coach clients has asked me if I could help with her rheumatoid arthritis, I believe this is considered an autoimmune disease and maybe stress related? Input please!

Hi Tony
Stress is a piece along with diet. RA is autoimmune so much can be done with the subconscious mind. Give me a call at 206-903-1232 and we can talk and you can also do a search at www.hypnosishealthinfo.com and find some info. It's too much to write out here.
In my studies about the subject, I read that a serious trauma (usually emotional) can often be noted a few months prior to the onset of symptoms. Something to look into with your client.

I developed RA when I was in a very stressful living environment. I was in chronic fight-or-flight mode. My immune system responded to the stress and spiked upwards, attacking my own body. ...I left my bad environment, and went into remission within a few months. I have been RA free for ten years.
Hi Tony, There is a lot to be gained by checking diet, down here in New Zealand a lot of people use Green Lipped Mussels, or you can get Green Lipped Mussel Extract, also I have use a Dial Switch, Have your Client tell you a value of the Discomfort,
note that, Discomfort not pain, get him to say a value 1 -10 then when in hypnosis have him Imagine/Visualize a Dial switch set at that value, have him reach out and turn the dial up slightly, and tell him he notices a slight increase in discomfort, that gives him his belief in your system, then have him turn it down to 0, This has worked for me on three account's.
Kindest Regards

Hey Man,

It's good to see you posting - Tony.

Hypnosis is an excellent alternative or adjunctive option for people with RA. And the great news is that you already have the tools and experience to easily help your client take just about all of the unnecessary suffering out of RA.

It is as simple as teaching him how to relax, recharge and re-focus her attention in ways the promote de-stressing and moving into rest and digest states. Mastering these skills will remedy the two major symptoms that she is likely to be dealing with: Extreme, chronic pain and fatigue.

Hint: Helping a client tune out chronic pain is like helping a client improve her golf game -- In the same way you might teach her how to move into the zone and rehearse hitting the perfect shot-- Teaching her how to move into the Relax&Recharge Zone and remember the best times of her life or imagine the pleasures that await her. All you have to do is anchor the state and give her a post-hypnotic suggestion that she now has some control - She can trigger and enter Relax&Recharge Zone any time that she wants to energize herself and the moment that she does she will feel too good to be bothered by pain.

Hi ya back! I have been busy with retail consulting and opening a small herb store, had to do something since I seem to have a case of laryngitis haha. Thank you for putting your answer in a concept to which I am familiar with.

Take care
Tony

I have a couple of friends who have RA. I'm going to pass this information along to them. Thanks for asking the question, Tony! And how's the Hemet office coming along?

It's a tiny little point, a quibble you might say, but when you ask a client to rate any feeling on a 10 scale, including pain, go from 0 to 10 rather than 1 to 10. You need to plant the idea that there could be no pain at all.

Hat tip to Melissa,

Bill
