I thought the Gerson Method involved the use of herbs and natural substances for the healing of cancer. Please educate me.

The Gerson Method is as you said. But it involves a body - mind healing, including "depression". As a hypnotherapist I followed the depression to discover the root cause.

Did you use an affect bridge to self-regress? I'm just curious what you mean when you said you "followed the depression". It seems that you used an affect bridge to follow these feelings back to your current life but I may be reading something into your statement.
Did you have any kind of abreaction during your regression or did you just feel the depression that the little girl felt?
My first recommendation would be to work with a regressionist. If you have somebody you can do an exchange with in the area it would be beneficial. The reason I say that is because it's easier relax and to go with the flow of these memories if somebody else is driving. It's also good to have somebody there to gently guide you through an abreaction if it should come up.
If that's not possible then I would recommend that you self-regress again in order to accomplish a couple of things. Did you encounter any significant moments during your regression or was it just a general sense of the girl's life? If I were regressing you I would span the significant moments of the girl's life. If we operate from the presupposition that we choose the lives that we incarnate into for specific reasons and lessons then it will be beneficial to identify those lessons.
The little girl wasn't always without family so I would also regress in order to find any familial ties even if that means going all the way back to the womb. When you discover your family, what happened to them, why you were alone, etc and identify any familiar souls in that family group you will find a lot of closure. I would also move to the time of the girl's death. The death itself may not be a pleasant experience (which is why I would recommend you do this with somebody) but moving past the death after the soul leaves the body is extremely liberating. At that point you'll be able to review the girl's life with compassion and understanding.
I also incorporate "changing personal history" and timeline into my regressions so I would go back and give that little girl every resource that you think she needs (primarily love, comfort, and companionship but add anything else you think she needs). There are a number of ways to do this and as a hypnotist I imagine that you have your own techniques.
This is just off the top of my head so if I've left anything out or if you have any further questions let me know.
Warmest
Dave
