I have a client that has had his prostate removed and has problems holding his urine. He wants to fix this before radiation starts. Any suggestions on an approach? I was going to use a similar approach to bed wetting....getting his sc mind to alert the body when it needs to go. Create a sensation to give enough time to get to the lavatory. Has anyone has experiences with this?
Thanks

It is possible that his urinary sphincter was temporarily irritated by his surgery. Many men who have prostate surgery have temporary incontinence afterwards but regain continence once the irritation and possibly inflammation subside. I have worked successfully with a number of men to regain continence after prostate surgery. Teach them the proper way to do Kegel exercises for urinary incontinence--and that is NOT the way women do them after childbirth. He should practice trying to stop a fart. By doing Kegels this way he strengthens all 3 muscles that are responsible for urinary continence. I have other suggestions in my book on using hypnosis to reverse urinary incontinence....on my web site http://www.melissaroth.com.
Thanks all for the great discussion. He came today and I gave him several anchors to practice his exercises which seem to be working since his control is getting better. I did tell him to imagine his healthy prostate was still there and his sc, urethra and bladder were working together as they did in previous years with the prostate...and then when necessary the bladder and urethra would pick up the slack giving him the same control he always had enjoyed and expected. I also told his body to make it impossible for cancer cells to thrive and to make his body healthier and stronger as his exercises continued...I will keep you all posted when I get some feedback..
