Hi, Keith Menchel here, I received this notice  from one of my web hosting companies as a warning.  and believe me the Adult Movie Companies have the money to buy every domain on the web.

General Availability for .XXX TLD Begins December 6th

That's right, come December 6th it's a mad rush to get your domains and brands protected under the .XXX extension. .XXX domains are given on a first-come first-serve basis, so if you want to keep adult website owners from reserving your domain you need to be ready.

What are the benefits of reserving a .XXX extension?

  • Protects your brand & domain
  • Blocks others from using your domain for adult-related material
  • Prevents you from paying a large amount if someone else registers it and you want it back

Mark your calendar for December 6th so you can protect your brand and be the first to reserve your .XXX domain before someone else.

Best Regards,

That's a whole other kind of session...

Jason

@Jason, you are a riot.

Oh yes, and that would require SPECIAL PRICING! lol

I did warn people in my "About Me" section that I am a Goof ball.

The deeper you go the better you feel.....ooops may need to change that wording.

Hi Bruce,

ROTFL! Great-now every time I use that suggestion Ill have something else "pop" up into my mind.

Just like how having watched the Zoran Zoran-The World's Fastest Hypnotist video with him saying "thats right" has ruined me on that phrase making it sound totally hokey to me. I have to watch myself every time I hear it that I don't laugh or snort at the use of it.

gentle day,

Lisa

Ya'll are so funny!  I thought that I was posting a serious bit of info.  But no, now I'm ROTFL too!

Jason, just wait 'till there is a VirginiaHypnosis.xxx.

Breathing Fast and Deep, Keith

Hehehehe once upon a time years ago I was trying to find some bit of political information and thought I'd look at the president's website on whitehouse.gov. Well I, out of habit, typed .com instead of .gov...

The webpage that came up had an image of a vaguely presidential looking person with the first lady wearing more leather than a Budweiser clydesdale horse...and Mr President was so not pulling a wagon.

While it would be difficult to impossible to accidentally type .xxx I sure don't know how the search engines like google are going to handle these things-my guess would be poorly at least at first. I really don't like automatic filters etc because they often don't work well and screw up my results. Just the other day I was looking up "crochet holiday ornaments patterns" and somehow got a lady in a thong in my results in google image search. Im still trying to figure that one out.  Ah, the thong wasn't crocheted though I'm sure it is truly the gift that keeps giving ;) Maybe *thats* the connection.

gentle day,

Lisa

While it does no harm to at least get your .net and your .biz, this is a losing battle. I work for a big company with a huge internet presence and I *constantly* get warnings that some cybersquatter is allegedly about to get some important variation of our domain name, and WE WILL HAVE TO LET THEM DO IT UNLESS YOU REGISTER IT WITH US RIGHT NOW NOW NOW.

There are just too many variations on even the simplest domain name. Get your .com, your .net and your .biz, and watch close variants once in a while. If anybody deliberately tries to deceive people that they are you or your business, find a trademark lawyer and let 'em have it. Otherwise, don't sweat it.

Marc is correct...   it is pointless to "protect your domain" by buying useless extensions like .info or .biz

Think-  when was the last time you searched for something and google gave you websites with .biz or .info?   Never.   Why?   Because google treats them as junk.   Nobody will ever see them.

The fate of .xxx is ever worse.   Filters and search engines will now have an EASY time filtering porn and will simply not assign them high ranking if they even bother to index them.

At $99 for registration, it is not protection to buy .xxx it is a waste of money.

If you are a public institution, have a trademarked brand that would appeal to porn or some other unique situation, you might find it worth the $99

But I can guarantee two things:

1.)  Nobody is ever going register SubliminalScience.XXX  and

2.)  Even if they did, NOBODY would ever find it, because the search engine are NOT going to index  the entire extension...
