Does anyone know of someone in the Toronto/S. Ontario area who does a variety of rapid inductions? I've always wondered if any of these would work on me. So far, the relaxation inductions have failed to hypnotize me. The only rapid inductions that have been tried on me were the "press down on the hand" induction, twice, and failed both times. In fact, any kind of hypnosis that I have ever seen, whether in person, on television, or the many clips on the internet, is hypnosis that I have never experienced.  You might say that I have spent my life hypnosis deprived. I have never come across anyone who does rapid inductions, except for the 2 times that I've already mentioned. I see so many videos of rapid inductions working so well, I would love to have them tried with me.

If anyone has some colleagues in my area, I would appreciate it if you could let me know. Thank you.

I have no colleagues in your area, but I would ask some questions in order to help you achieve your goal.

First however; I would like to explain that you go into and out of natural trance states all the time. It is how you are able to multitask. The analytical mind is only able to focus on one thing at a time (you can verify this yourself by trying to read one paragraph, while writing another), we use our natural trance states to compensate for this shortcoming. Being able to multitask is a survival need.

My point is that you are well familiar with using natural trance states, it is just purposeful, or guide trance states that you are having difficulty with.

This can only be caused by one generic thing: the inability to follow instructions.

Whether it is because of fear, or ignorance, or maybe even trying to help facilitate matters and make things happen. For whatever reason, you are not following the instructions your are given, and consequently you are not achieving purposeful trance via hypnosis.

Here are my questions (since I don't know you, I must ask all of these)

1. What ARE you experiencing during these hypnosis attempts?
2. Are you trying to help MAKE the effects happen?
3. Do you feel any pride because of the failures to hypnotize you?
4. Are there any words or terms that you are asked to do that you don't understand. (like deeper?)

Understanding what trance really is may help you: Trance is a natural state in which we automatically react to outside input without the involvement of the analytical mind. Anything you can do, while thinking about something else, is a trance state. Like driving your car while thinking about work, etc.

Trance is kind of like a set of mental reflexes, or a mental baby sitter mode. When in trance, we will simply react to suggestion, as long as there is no reason not to. Any kind of effort to make the reaction happen will put the kabosh on the whole thing, because to make it happen requires using the analytical mind, which is how we exit trance.

Here are some videos of a rapid induction that you can use to practice achieving purposeful trance. In the pretalk I give specific instructions for you to follow. If you follow them, you will experience the trance effects you are looking for. For some, achieving purposeful trance has to be a learned activity, and we learn via repetition.

Thanks John. I'll have a look at your videos. I'll reply properly as soon as I have some time. Thanks for the reply and hopefully I'll receive more comments...much appreciated!
John, even though it's very late, couldn't resist checking out the first video. No effect for me, but you mentioned repetition. So later on, I'll watch it over again, and many times after that if necessary. Will let you know what happens.
An excellent practitioner in Toronto is Debbie Papadakis.

To John, I AM following instructions. There is simply no reason for me not to. I want to achieve trance and experience the effects, so of course I am going to do my best to follow all instructions given. If so many others have no difficulty following instructions, then why would I? If I told you to take a specific item off a shelf and place it on the floor, and you do this, then you have followed my instructions, right? Well, I follow instructions that you (or others have given me) the same way. I swear to you that I am, yet I do not go into trance to achieve any of the effects, such as those in the videos you linked me to. And no, I don't feel any pride because of failures to be hypnotized. I feel very sad and somewhat frustrated. I WANT to be hypnotized, very, very badly, believe me.

Licentious: the Incredible Boris, unfortunately, does not do any public shows in Toronto and vicinity, not that I've seen on his schedule. If he did, I'd go, for sure. If you can get him to do a workshop or demonstrations, please invite me, providing the cost is reasonable.

Doc: I've seen Debbie Papadakis, not individually, but she holds occasionally meetup groups, and I've attended two so far, one on self-hypnosis and the other on past life regression. I wish she'd do one on rapid inductions. Maybe I'll suggest that to her for future meetup groups.

Leshem, thank you, but I'm not particularly interested in learning to do rapid inductions. Rather, I'd like someone to do them on me!
Mark, if you have not yet done this, I can also recommend exploring eye fixation techniques.
It's ok when I posted it I was thinking to benefit all those how like Igor [even I my self don't attach to his teaching]

And why don't you just go to a good hypnotist and let him or her teach you how to experience trance
Even for some its enough to watch a clip many other will need a good instruction by pro hypnotist
Good luck
Mark,
You misunderstand. I am not speaking of lack of desire or level of willingness. I stated root cause of where the process fell down. If you are given a set of 5 instructions and told to follow them one by one to get a set result, and you did not achieve that result. Upon investigation it was found that you couldn't follow the instructions because they were written in Chinese. The root cause of the process breakdown is still that the instructions weren't followed. In other scenarios, why the instructions weren't followed is not always apparent or controllable.

You have a difficulty achieving trance. The good news is that these reasons can be found out and corrected if desired.
Maybe you have to learn "how" to go into trance. How to "let" it happen. Perhaps some part of you doesn't want to give up perceived "control" to someone else. Perhaps it might be hyper vigilance, or emotional anesthesia. etc. But all are identifiable and correctable.

Sorry to have created misunderstanding
John
