relationship issues
Whilst I have had individual clients re relationship problems re jealousy, anxiety, anger etc I am starting to get couples getting in touch and usually i refer to Relate.
The following course is being advertized and I wondered if this seemed suitable to those of you who deal with couples and what you would envisage is actually included.What do you use as theraputic techniques,questionaires etc.
Relationships - It is aimed to give you a means of offering a therapeutic format for clients with relationship issues eitheron a one to one basis or as couples. It provides the strategy for clear insights for both the therapist and patients together with questionnaires,comprehensive notes, scripts and therapeutic processes.

This is exactly what Dr. Daniel Araoz,Ed.D. deals with in his books titled The New Hypnosis and The New Hypnosis: Techniques In Brief Individual And Family Psychotherapy! Dr. Araoz also wrote The New Hypnosis In Sex Therapy: Cognitive Behavioral Methods For Clinicians......
Others who have espoused marriage and family hypnotherapy have been J. Haley and M. Erickson. Another one is Morrison in "The Use Of Imagery Techniques In Family Therapy".........and there have been many others who have written about the emerging role of the marriage and family hypnotherapist.....
In my opinion, marriage and family hypnotherapy should not be confused with "relationship counseling" because using hypnosis to help individuals and/or couples with relationship or family issues is nothing more than using hypnosis to help with weight or smoking etc.....and I think hypnotherapists, or consulting hypnotists, should openly embrace this idea and welcome it as an opportunity to broaden their work opportunities!
