Is your clients nightmare the same and does it repeat it self?
A usual relaxation with guided imagery can your clients mind by bringing it back to a peaceful, restful state, it usually let go of any fear from the nightmare.
It is best to find out what was the nightmare about, is it related to his currant situation, more like emotional state, and use that in your relaxation.
Hope It helps.

Permalink Reply by James Hazlerig - HypnosisAustin on December 10, 2009 at 8:53pm Whenever I have a puzzling or disturbing dream, I go back to it when I'm in trance, only this time, I ask various things/characters why they are there, or I complete unfinished plot lines, or I rewrite unpleasant endings. I've led some clients through that as well.
I had an adult client who came to see me about a recurring nightmare. We went back into the dream, but we were unable to get any answers as to what it was about. So we simply rewrote it. It's been a few years, and she hasn't had the nightmare since. We still don't know what the nightmare was about, but it doesn't seem to matter.
