Peter,
I use time distortion before I get on the trainer for exercise each day. I simply go into a light trance and suggest that the experience will be very short and easy. I visualize the minute hand on the clock moving very fast. This works very well for me.

What is the situation that you are trying to distort?

I've not tried to make time go slow.

Peter,

First I would set my intention for time to slow down and second I would imagine a dial or dimmer switch to give myself a way to control time. Imagine that it's labeled "time" and see and feel yourself turning it down while you're in hypnosis.

Hi Peter,

You can also mentally arm yourself with a remote control device and play around with its different features such as slow motion, fast forward, rewind, etc. Make it one of those really large ones, if you like!

Best wishes,

In developing your perception for time distortion, it can also be quite useful to use sensory acuity enhancement as well. The ability to see faster, for example, is something that can be trained quite rapidly and fairly simply. Fighter pilots need the ability to notice perceptually small objects that move rapidly and need to be caught by the eye in a fraction of a second. To develop this, a program was developed in which trainees are placed in a dark theatre where words are flashed for brief periods on the screen. As they progress, the intervals during which the words are seen becomes smaller, as does the font size, and the words themselves may become longer, even moving on to short phrases. Of course, you might do something of this sort at home with a flashlight and index cards, which would be effective albeit rudimentary.

At the same time, I think it worthwhile, as well, to consider that in creating a self-hypnosis routine for such purposes, it's quite useful to have a focus on these sensory aspects as you consier those effects. It might be quite useful to contemplate that scenario, all those minute details you'll have time to notice as you do slow down, and to integrate that awareness as a part of your hypnotic experience,

Katherine,

Could you dumb this down for me as I'm new to Self-Hypnosis, is it just as simple as going into hypnosis and suggesting that your time perception slowed down?

How will I know if it's worked? (Not as stupid a question as it looks, what I mean is, will it be like the Matrix where things slow down loads, or will it be minor and need some practice?)

As a musician, this skill would be brilliant for my piano and guitar playing.

from Back to the Future Part II

Doc: They're taking her home, to your future home! We'll arrive shortly thereafter, get her out of there and go back to 1985.

Marty McFly: You mean, I'm gonna see where I live? I'm gonna see myself as an old man?

Doc: No, no, no Marty, that could result in a- [gasps]

Doc: Great Scott! Jennifer could conceivably encounter her future self! The consequences of that could be disastrous!

Marty McFly: Doc, what do you mean?

Doc: I foresee two possibilities. One, coming face to face with herself 30 years older would put her into shock and she'd simply pass out. Or two, the encounter could create a time paradox, the results of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space time continuum, and destroy the entire universe! Granted, that's a worse case scenario. The destruction might in fact be very localized, limited to merely our own galaxy.

Marty McFly: Well, that's a relief.

Sorry? Is there a hidden meaning in there somewhere?

Well, Marty does goes back in time to fix his parents. I suppose there's a cautionary tale for for time travelers (real or hypnotically induced.)
