I believe there are a number of NLP practitioners and enthusiasts here on hypnothoughts. Have any of you read Steve Andreas' book? What are your thoughts & impressions?

Haven't read that one yet, personally, but every book by Stephen I've read to date has been excellent.

NLP, The New Technology of Achievement and Heart of The Mind are both must haves for any NLP'er/Hypnotherapists library...

Kevin,

You were one of the people that can to mind.

Thank you,
Michael
I have read the Heart of the Mind and found it completely informative. I have the others on my shelf and do plan to read them. If you want to read one and discuss it, it would be motivational for me to.... move it to the top of my list of things to do. Do tell... I love discussing books.

Hi Donna,
I've started reading six blind elephants and have the volume two on self and don't remember how much of Heart of the Mind I have read, I'll have to take a look at how highlighting I did in those two books. I am currently a new slower than most reader. I'm crrently reading a couple of books by E. Rossi about psychobiology, but would live to participate in some srt of discussion, I have never done that before, I hope others join intoo.

Heart of the Mind is wonderful...look forward to reading Andreas' latest!
I agree Kevin -

If Andreas wrote it - it's a no brainer-- SBE is going to be an informative, pleasurable and satisfying read --

I am planning on reading SBE on my flights to and from the West Coast in Sept.

Warmest regards,

Michael E.

I'll be getting the book somewhere next month, and it would be a nice one to discuss, I'm sure.
I received my copy in the post the other day. It looks like a good/valuable read.

There may be value in a "read and discuss".

We could spend two weeks to a month with each chapter. Someone could start off period for each chapter with a review/summary and directional comment/question for discussion.

Any interest?

Spending the two weeks to a month could allow enough time for others to get interested and join in as we go.

I'm game

I've read both volumes. It should be mandatory reading for hypnotherapists/NLP therapists. You won't go wrong with this one. As with everything else Steve does, it is superior.
Hello Donna,
Wondering where the top of your list is these days, or should I say, "when the top of your list is?"

I whipped out thee ole blind elephant and started to start reading it again. I must admit, I am getting more out of it this time. Maybe I'm more ready or not here I cometh.

I actually had an interesting time the first time with "scope and category," it seems to make much more sense this time.

But the thing that I completely over looked the first time around is something I am so glad to have discovered or re-discovered and it goes like this.

When I heard about living in the moment, (about six years ago for me), I thought what a wonderful way to live....and have adopted it into how I do live, (no regrets).

Then I read in the elephant book that it is not always a good thing to live in the moment, if the moment sucks, (he doesn't use the word "sucks," that's my interpretation), anyway, if the moment is sucky, it's better to widen the scope to include a bigger picture of things that could include a variety of events good and otherwise, in fact, if wanting to, one could then narrow that larger scope to focus on a specific category of good things that happened in that larger scope.

What a wonderful way to reframe one's focus.

So living in the moment is a wonderful way to live, but if the events in the moment are not good, then widening the scope, or widening what one is focusing on, can be something more desirable. Or at least a way to take one's mind off of some unpleasantness.

I know, true moment livers would say that there is nothing unpleasant in the moment, but as human beings trying to live in the moment, a bit of past or future does have a tendency to wiggle it's way in and the moment now seems tainted if you will.

What a wonderful concept in the book to help others and myself.

So back to my original question: When is, or, was, the top of your list with regards to elephantness?

Embracing changes of all kinds, (and from the 1960's show Get Smart), "and loving it."

All,

I'm looking at volume 1 for a second time. I like what he says, but I'm careful of how he's weaving mathematical concepts into his work. Some of the time I have to look the other way.

I would enjoy participating in a discussion group.
