Yes.

Profound somnambulism.

I get amnesia, hallucinations, and all the hypnotic effects.

I use voice or video or just plain text chat.

Very easily done, very effective. If you stop and think about it, if close your eyes during a session, you don't know if the hypnotist is really in the room with you at all..all you hear is the voice.

I've hypnotised people via webcam using Skype, Yahoo and MSN. I prefer Skype as it seems to usually have better connections. It is important to makes sure the technology is as good as it can be. Make sure that you can both hear each other clearly and you don't get any feedback. I personally prefer video webcam as I like to see my client's response as it makes my life easier. It's also important to make sure that the client isn't going to be disturbed by phones ringing or pets trying to jump on their lap during the session.

Yep easy, There are some precautions to take but other than that, it works great
how do you mean procautions?

I have as a last resort, but I don't like it that much. It works, but I think it's similar to a hypnosis tape for clients. It's easy for them to fall asleep and I can't get ideomotor responses and I can't tell when their in breath and out breath occurs. I like giving specific suggestions like "vitality" on the in breath and "relax" on the out breath.

Other things are:
- I can't control their environment - phones, kids, dogs, cats, etc.
- If the computer is on a desk, they are in a desk chair, not a recliner.
- If they are using a laptop in a recliner, the laptop is on their lap as they go into hypnosis.
- The computer has a tendency to go to sleep.
- Email programs have been on and beep when mail is recieved. They tend to open their eyes then.
- Internet connection dropped once. On their end, but...they had to come out of trance to restart their computer to get back online.

I'm sure it's adequate, I just like face to face hypnosis. It's easier and there is less tech support.

That said, the results they achieved were similar to face to face, though I didn't do smoking cessation or weight loss.

Hope that helps!
I agree with Michael that a "reliable" and "lucid" connection is vital to success with internet or phone technology and that the client's environmental space is a compromising factor except I would say that IMR is attainable for it only requires a visual cue.
