Hi Everyone,

I truly appreciate the warm welcome from all of you. I have 2 shows coming up this week and have a question regarding one of them. Threre will be only around 35 -40 people for a company party, and well, it is a winery. Lately I have difficulties to hypnotize people in small groups due to either someone drank too much or some just want to watch the show or taking picture.

Anyone would give me some advice regarding small groups? Thank you.

Julius

Julius,

I've never had a crowd bigger than 40 to draw from. Here are clips from some of the shows I've done with small crowds:

In truth, all you need is one good volunteer to put on a show. I've done more performances with a single trancer than I have with groups.

As I see it, there are three big scary possibilities that are mostly beyond your control:

1. There's a chance no one will come to your show.

But you already have a captive audience.

2. There's a chance no one will volunteer. (A Very, Very Slight Chance)

In that case, do some "imagination games" with the whole audience--the lemon visualization, magnetic fingers, buckets and balloons, and so on. Heck, you could put on a great show just doing those things. Of course, it's easy to roll those into a group induction.

3. If people do volunteer, there's a chance none of them will go into trance. (Again, highly unlikely, but it can happen)

Have a few other tricks up your sleeve just in case--mentalism, comedy, something. Or you can use a tri-pendulum:

Be prepared for anything--and realize that it will go far better than you expect.

Happy trancing,

James,

Thank you for your thoughts. I knew I have to work out something else just in case but usually I was lucky to draw larger crowd. Very useful advice.

Hi James,

Here you go. The first 2 of your suggestions should make a difference because I haven't mentioned them for years! That would explain some of the reluctance. Thank you.

Hi Gyula,

In your opening pre talk make sure to remind that they will not do anything under hypnosis they didn't want to do or say. Also let them know that on hour of hypnosis is equal to 8 hours of sleep. Stress that it takes a creative mind for someone to go under and that for many this is a once in a life time opportunity to experience the deep relaxing that hypnosis gives. When you start your show, make sure you have there attain and ask that they please be quite so that everyone can hear what you are saying. Explain that the induction is real and if people in the room make nose it will be hard for the people on stage to focus on your voice and may bright them out of hypnosis. Tell them once you start the induction they are not to take any flash photos but you will let them know when they are under and they can resume taking as many flash photos as they want. All you need is one or two people to go under to have a fun show. Break a leg.
