What sort of venues are you doing? And for what sort of road show.
For small up to 100 who are attentive and quiet I use a Peavy Messenger. Fabulous bit of kit 100 watts and the whole thing the size of a briefcase and, if you get rid of the lead mic in there you'll have room to pack a Senhiezer hand held radio mic.
For larger rooms the Peavy escort is ideal. 150 watts and decent size speakers. The whole thing fits into one box but can be a little heavy to lift.
Both have a mixing desk and all the cables, the Escort also has speaker stands and a stand for the main unit.
I also always have a 160 watt Bose self powered stage monitor, it can be used on its own but if you don't spread the sound you are not really making best use of the acoustics. I use this as back up if the room is large or if there are above 150 people. The trick there, because people 'soak' your sound, is to get your speakers as high as possible.
http://www.peavey.com/products/portable.cfm will show you.
One tip from someone who's stage hypnosis career started as a roadie. Cheap doesn't buy a good bit of kit. And if it's second hand it's scrap in my opinion because no one ever gets rid of good stuff.
Hope this helps.

Permalink Reply by David Lynn on January 27, 2010 at 8:27pm Thanks Jonathan,
I am planning on doing seminars in hotel meeting rooms and such and maybe stage shows in high school auditoriums. I am leaning toward the Peavy Escort 3000. I just did not know if there was anything out there that others were using that are similar.
Something else I am very interested in is Group Smoking Cessation programs.
