I am looking for some feedback regarding Live Stage Hypnosis Training.  I would like to hear from anybody who has attended or going to attend a live course.  I know there are some excellent instructors out there and would like to know what to look for in a class, who would be some great mentors, content and you personal thoughts on the subject.

Thank you,

Chris Villani

There are several discussions like this running around the forum Chris, You might want to look at the archives and privately talk with a few of the posters, I am sure you will get some excellent responses to this query. The best course for you depends on what you are looking for and what you want to do with the skill. Of course, right here on the forum Jim Szeles is doing an excellent job of sharing good information and showing you basic skills needed for a show, I have cross trained a lot in stage hypnosis. Two guys stand out in my mind as influential in the style I have developed. They both seem elusive and hard to catch up with for training but I will give you thier names anyway. The first is our own Richard Rumble. Richard gave me a solid foundation and does a great job in a show. and,,, Richard is working and doing it on a regular basis, That's something that can't be said for some instructors out there, The second was Justin Tranz. Justin runs small private trainings and they happen spontaneously, but they are fun when they happen. You just missed a great one at the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City with Justin and Joe Bocatti. A third name I would throw in the mix is Mike Doubet but Mike hasn't run a seminar in six years and video tape may be your best friend if you want to study him (trucor.com)

The pretty Goodest Hypnotist on the Planet.
Jonathan Royle is a good trainer. You can learn a lot from him.
Of course I believe you live in USA so it makes a small difference. Jonathan is in UK.
But I have heard good opinions about Jimmy Vee, John Cerberone.

Between us. I would not waste time on so called trainings if you are the beginner.. Better buy a good collection of DVD;s from Richard Nongard and Jonathan Royle, and simply stay in touch with them if possible. Then after you know some stuff- go for so called "course" or "training". You will approach a training knowing exactly what you are looking for, what questions you want to solve. Otherwise you may be an easy target for guys who sell simply sh...

It,s actually Tommy Vee, not Jimmy Vee I believe and John Cerbone not Johm Cerberone.(both really fun guys to know), You can find them both on the site, Jonathan Royale has excellent trainings on how to skirt the Hypnotism act of 1952, but since Americans, Australians, Asians, Dutch, Germans, French, Indians and Israel's and most other folk around the globe don't have to do that, you may be better spending your efforts on another trainer. You'll probably have to find Jonathan somewhere else but here, but that's easy since .most spam filters hold his stuff for several days now

I'd also recommend digging around the "groups" section of this site and find stage hypnosis instructors who have groups for their alumni. You could then privately contact those alumni and see what they thought of the education they received.

If you already know how to do hypnosis and be entertaining, live training is, imho, a waste of money. There are much more affordable routes to go.

I've learned a lot from Szeles's free videos; they are definitely worth checking out.

Alex Duvall has a fairly affordable and informative e-book out there, and Geoff Ronning has a print book that costs only a fraction of what live training does.

A lot of instructors have videos. Sometimes the cost of the whole DVD course can be daunting, so you might look for someone who has it broken into affordable chunks, such as Nongard.

My two cents,

James

Chris check out my free how to videos here or on www.youtube.com/jimszeles and save yourself $1500 bucks and a trip to Vegas.
Marc Savard's course in Las Vegas is fantastic! 8 days was not enough time to cover all the information he presented!
Geoffrey Ronning's course is top notch. It also goes into marketing more than any other courses I've seen. His DVD course is very informative as well and covers much of what he covers in the life course.

Richard Nongard's DVD course is also very thorough. Richard is also a very stand-up guy who has taken time out of his day to talk with me about specific issues I had questiosn about.

Tommy Vee is teaching a 2 day seminar on stage hypnosis right before the NGH convention next week. Is you're near MS, it's worth it. Tommy's a real nice guy.

Jonathan Royle is cheeky but good. I have his complete (at the time) DVD set. The recording is "ok" because I think it was converted from PAL to NTSC, but more than adequete to learn from.

Glad to see that you were at the Savard training! You made a VERY good choice IMHO. Tommy Vee is phenominal and so is Richard Nongards home study course.

Hugh, John & Brian-

I appreciate the kind words. We have been training stage hypnotists, in groups & private internships, for over 10 years now. Jerry Valley & I share EVERYTHING we know about stage hypnosis with our students. We have many alumni who are out there now doing real stage hypnosis shows making real money and having real fun.

Sincerely,

Tommy Vee

And I have seen some of Tommy's former student doing a great job, both keeping people safe and entertaining the audience! I also see that Jerry's class this year in Vegas has a special guest speaker, Marc Savard. This isn't an advertisement, I havn't taken Jerry or Tommy's training, I have just met and seen great shows by their past students...

...Success isn't an accident......

Brian.. Marc's class was awesome.  I am looking forward to his stage training in May and catching up with everybody.  This discussion has brought out some great teachers and mentors. Thanks for all of the replies  :)
Hi, this is a great topic. I am looking to train with or be an apprentice to a very good stage hypnosis professional near LA area. Does anybody know a good stage hypnotist there? Thanks Ahead for all the feedback.
