I am asking for some BIG GUNS on this one..I have had great success with creating nonsmokers but have 2 that are really stubborn after all my best tricks and 2 sessions each. I have done the hi/lo road approach, NLP and am not sure where to go from here. Has anyone had really stubborn cases that they were able to finally help?
Thanks
Fern

We don't create nonsmokers because we can't affect free will; we just enable those who want to quit by removing cravings and withdrawal symptoms. It is their desire that successfully makes them the non-smoker.

I make my smoking clients jump through a number of hoops before the session and one of the things I do is like a stop smoking triage. If they have got lots of other issues going on in their life or if there is a lot of "stuff" in their past, or if they started smoking when someone died etc then I will put off the smoking session and concentrate on dealing with the emotional baggage. Then it is really easy to help them stop.
Another thing I will do (although I do it in a different way that John does) is to make sure that when they come that they haven't had a cigarette for hours so that they are really craving one and then I take it away and show them how they can do it. If you teach them how to remove a craving at will you are putting them at cause. If they want to stop, they can.
Also you want to future pace the inherently helpful "friend" who tries to goad them into having one by saying, "go on, one won't hurt" Which of course it will.
So to sum up check their emotional state and if necessary work with that first
