Richard Nongard/John Cerbone (www.hypnosisgurus.com)

Sean Michael Andrews (www.worldsfastesthypnotist.com)

I don't get a kickback from either of these outfits, so I feel comfortable recommending them. Sean has a great newsletter to subscribe to.

Haven't read it yet, but I've heard good things about Reality is Plastic by Anthony Jacquin.

There are a few things I've learned from doing it:

1. Practice, practice, practice!

2. Realize that only the best examples make it to YouTube. :-)

3. As a general rule, pyramid your effects with every trancer, starting with easy things and working your way up to tougher things. One exception to this is when you get an obvious "flopper" whom you know is ready for advanced effects right off the bat.

4. Think on your feet. If you tell someone to forget their name and they don't, ask if they like their name. If they say yes, tell them they'll get a burst of joy every time they hear their name. If they say no, ask them if they'd like a new name and then give them the burst of joy for that name. Similarly, if you've just de-hypnotized a trancer, they're usually highly suggestible, so you can say, "Here's my card. Focus all your attention on my card. Hold it tight; it's stuck, it's stuck!" and so on. If it gets stuck (which it usually will), you blow all the observers' minds. If not, you say, "Good! We know you're truly out of hypnosis and won't go on a zombie buying spree when you leave here!"

5. Carry water. :-)

Oh, I forgot to mention that Ormond McGill's Hypnotherapy Encyclopedia actually has a lot of info on rapid inductions (and nearly everything else you can imagine).

I've also heard good things about this video, which has the advantage of being considerably less expensive than most on the market. Heck, it's priced lower than a lot of the books out there:

I second for John Cerbone Speed Transe and Street Transe dvds. The only thing I think is lacking into them is depth testing (because of course in the DVD these are all the best examples but in real life you might need to test depth before saying : forget your name etc...).

I also find Reality is Plastic to be a wonderful resource, it's given me a lot to think about and am now mixing it in with my Mentalism performances, more often than before.

Looking forward to checking out Cerbone and Nongard's material soon.

With these techniques, I generally don't find it necessary to test for depth, as the people I work with, are out fast and in deep. And they do respond quite well to proofs, tests and challenges, laughing at my red pen hysterically, glued to stuff, forgetting their names, etc.
Also, you can do standard depth tests if you want to, but they are not necessary once you see them in a REM State.
There 6 Level of Depth in the Aron's Hypnotic Depth Testing Scale, and complimentary to this, 6 Levels of REM. I do believe the two are related.

It is really all about where you draw the line between street hypnosis and performance or clinical hypnosis, Street Hypnosis to me is not about lining five subjects up and doing a show in the street, Its about working rapidly and quickly with total strangers and showing phemonena. Speed trance is about "quick hit" rapid simple phenomena demos. That is why John's "red pen" thing is a good demo and forgetting names or more complex suggestions is not such a good lead off. I actually prefer to think of Speed Trance as a "moment of acquiesence" which becomes a jump off for deeper more responsive states, I use speed trance often but it is the start of a chain of progessively more responsive trance inductions which lead to more responsive states. I don't do much street Hypnosis I am more generally involved with clinical and performance Hypnosis. But that's just my two cents.
