Hi everyone,

I wonder if you could offer some advice on different suggestions I could use on a client who is coming to see me. He describes his problem as an underlying fear which is affecting his life negatively and is hoping to find the root cause of it.

Do you think regression is the best route to take?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Regards
April

Either regression or parts therapy could provide the answer. Does he just want to know the cause? or would he want the fear removed? Using regression, you would be poised to fix the issue. So for that reason, regression is probably the best path. Where as with parts therapy, after finding out what the issue is, you could switch to the fast phobia cure and eliminate it that way.

Hope that helps you

Hi John,
Thanks for the advice. Yes, he wants to remove the fear and find out what is causing it. I think I will have to try regression with him to begin with.
Thanks again

Hi April

I always find that it is best to work directly with the fear , it will regress you back to the root cause. When the client is in deep hypnosis I ask them to recreate the fear by reviewing the last time it came up or an incident that really triggered it. WE have of course already talked about this in the pre talk. Once they have connected with it , I ask them to identify where it is in their body and describe it in detail...as in feelings, emotion, colors etc and then I ask them to make it really big.....really go into it and expand it... eg) expand this fear that is black in your stomach make it huge .......then I regress them back to the first time that they ever remember the same feeling.....and have them repeat the description of where it is in their body now and review what is happening briefly......again expand the feeling color and where it is in the body and then when they have a good charge on this, I ask them to go back to the very first time their being ever experienced this.I like to work with the sensations in the body as it holds cellular memories. When that gets resolved I take them back to the first incident and then see how that has changed or what is still left.
I am sure this is very routine....but I always get good results with this.

Hope this helps

Hi,

Although I teach parts therapy, I would use regression to ISE in this instance.

If the client fails to respond to the affect bridge technique, use age regression or some imagery technique (such as “halls of time” or TimeLine therapy) to guide him back to the core cause.

Once discovered, you must help him to release the cause; and then use other techniques to facilitate subconscious relearning (or reprogramming).

Chapter 7 of THE ART OF HYPNOTHERAPY covers these techniques…or, if you have access to the videos of the Global Hypnosis Summit, go to the Library and view my presentation of the Five Phases of Regression Therapy.

I would do parts therapy and maybe regression depends what is the underlying problem I use parts on everyone....
hope this helps

Hi Aprille,

Regression -- might be the best route to take for this client simply because he indicated that he believes finding the root cause can resolve the problem -- Or you could suggest that you know a very powerful technique that uses the subconscious mind to locate and resolve the issue all by itself -- simply by having you get in touch with how you feel about the FEAR right now--

I suggest you watch and experience the exercise found at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7xp-hacrwo&feature=related

Consider modifying and using the above technique --
Fear and toxic feelings -- into the right hand and Peace, love and understanding into the left hand -- collapse and install a post hypnotic cue for relaxation and calm--
