Hey Folks,  wishing everyone a fantastic day!

Lately I've been researching what is the definite test or sign that a client is in somnambulism (or if you don't want to use that scale, call it "deep trance").

I'm curious what is your sign (or test) that lets you know this person is definitely in somnmabulism?

I've been reading some of the older publications from the 50's, Harry Aron's "Master Course in Hypnotism" says
"To decide whether a subject is in somnabulism, he can be given the suggestion that he feels no pain and not even a touch upon stimulation.  Should he feel nothing, he is in somnambulism"  !

Elsewhere i've read that for a person to be in somnambulism "they need to experience amnesia by suggestion"
(i.e., losing numbers etc ...)

I'm really looking for an easy test that i perform in a therapeutic setting that will give me a solid indication of somnambulism.
(counting from 1 to 10 and losing the number 6 is not what I am looking for)

Of course, each client is unique, however I do think many of us are making decision as to whether someone is in somnambulism and we're using something as a marker for that ...

All comments and suggestions greatly welcomed
Thanks for your inpul

I have a test that's been working for me for a while now:

When I'm pretty sure they are in somnambulism, they usually are.

After years of watching people enter the state you sort of get a feel for it. I don't think a race car driver needs to look at his speedometer to know if he is going fast enough or not. Practice gives you a sense of if you have what you are looking for or not.

In all honesty, I don't think there is a direct correlation between depth and success. I know there are processes that work better at deeper states than others, but that doesn't mean all sessions or processes are limited in that respect.

my two cents,
Scott
Hey Scott, this makes perfect sense ... however i'm pretty sure that if you really look you are calibrating for their somnambulistic state internally AND externally on something (a flush in the skin, a look, something) ... its now part of so much a part of what you do its become invisible, but i'm sure its there ... would be interesting to know?

After the acquisition of rapport, hypnosis happens fast with compliance.
