The extreme somnambulist, the virtuoso, the flopper, the blowdown... can you pick him/her out BEFORE you do the induction?

What indications tell you that this person will be one of the top 3-5% of hypnotic candidates? This is the person who drops like a rock and goes VERY deep. Whether you do therapy, stage or street hypnosis, you encounter these people.

I really like that! What a nice, covert suggestibility test! One of the things I look for is eye roll when the subject is talking. Have you ever noticed how some people's eyes are so expressive and when they look up, the eyes literally roll up in their head? It's sort of a covert Spiegel Eye Roll Test that I wrote about in my last newsletter.

I love it when someone in a group says "you could never hypnotise me "...my response is always " no probably not ...but I am sure that there is someone here that could go very deep ....if they just looked up into that light " then i look for the responders and go from there :-)
I have been hypnotising people for over a year now and i only found like 5-6 of the many people i have hypnotised that go completly into the "flooper" stage.
I think I am with Richard on this, I don't try to predict. I work with what is in front of me. First of all trying to predict "best subjects" is to me a "limiting belief". Using "floppers" as a sign of responsiveness is again a limiting belief. What if good responders were just a function of my abilities to find a way to help them experience hypnosis in thier own unique way. What if I could help them "learn" to respond properly by the way I approached my pretalk and tailored my induction. Sure some of the older research talks about suggestibility scales and percentages of the population that can respond. What if I were to believe congruently that all of that was outdated and misguided and that Hypnosis was a normal human ability and that every human with the desire and ability to focus could experience. Hmmm Nod your head if you understand.

The best subjects are those that want to be hypnotized and volunteer. Beyond that I can rarely predict outcomes and who will be "better" than the others. I try to have fun with them all, that usually works best for me. If I start trying to guess who will be best and force outcomes it never works. I just go with the flow.
