Hello Herbert,

right above is a "search" - field. When you search for "Tinnitus" you will get some helpful results.

There are also some good results with the mindmaschine (www.mind-shop.de) and good research from Prof. Dr. Toennies http://www.sven-toennies.de/

Wish you well

Andreas
Because I have not yet found the right way to paint a good model for my approach on tinnitus, this is everything I based my treatment on:

First of all, let me state, that I am a strong believer, that our "internal reality" is the world we actually live in, and that this IR is flexible, and can be manipulated.
By doing so, we can change what we experience, by using our imagination.
The body can not differ between fact and imagination.

Based on this principle NLP works with models, reframing, altered memory etc

What I found, is that if you can hear a non-existential sound, you can also hear 2 of these.
With this in mind, I thought back on something I read about noise reduction in airplanes.
This is called active noise control:

Sound is a pressure wave, which consists of a compression phase and a rarefaction phase. A noise-cancellation speaker emits a sound wave with the same amplitude but with inverted phase (also known as antiphase) to the original sound. The waves combine to form a new wave, in a process called interference, and effectively cancel each other out - an effect which is called phase cancellation.

If we can produce that effect in reality, we can also produce that effect within ourselves, or a client.
So I ask the client, to begin hearing a second beep, and alter it, until it completely cancels the original frequency, hence blocking the effect of the tinnitus.
Because it is the brain, that produces the original beep, it can also interpret the sound, before it "exists", and it can therefor create a second anti-phase, so it gets stopped before it is experienced.

At the start the brain is active in 2 ways: producing the tinnitus-sound, and producing the anti-phase, which results in hearing no beep (expelling the tinnitus-sound).
After a while, the unconscious catches on, and stops both processes, to produce the same effect, but with less energy-loss.

I hope to have answered your question with this.
Hi Herbert-

It is easy to help clients turn down, tune out or ignore the perceived sound(s) that have been disturbing them--

The operative words are: "without thinking about it"

It starts with giving the client a reason to believe hypnosis can help:
"We are designed to make peace with our environments. Example, people who live near airports quickly start to tune out the jets flying over their homes. Visitors are jarred and ask how can you stand the noise and they say: I just don't hear it any more - in the same way hypnosis can help you turn down, tune out or ignore the sounds that USED TO bother you without even thinking about it....

Once you've given the client a reason to believe and excited their imaginations for change - just about any hypnotic ritual will seal the deal...

I second Terence's reccommendation of Kevin Hogan's material.
