I have been working toward the goal of getting myself in a light trance state while doing a session (motivated, I think, by something I read in Trans-formations(?) a while back) . I have been thinking it wasn't happening until...a recent development.
About two weeks ago, I had a client come in requesting help to stay focused on her running goals. She was only a week away from running a marathon and her negative self talk was bringing her down. She was beating herself up for not running it faster, not running longer, not getting up earlier, not eating correctly, etc. etc. Her negative self-talk was especially brutal the day of any race; knowing she was going to disappoint herself… again.
Her main goal: to stay positive and enjoy her running.
So, we did our session.
I will just point out now - I have not been a big running fan up to this point in my life. I exercise regularly...but it is basic aerobics (2 miles walking fast with my dog or 30 minute walks on my treadmill) 3 to 5 days a week, with a bit of weekly yoga. Let me put it this way... I'm in shape...but my muscles don't stick out (yet! haha).
About 6 days after our session, I realize that the paperwork laid out all over my desk was on the 10k that is going to happen in about 4 months...and the Valley Marathon that happens in March 2010 ALONG with a well planned training schedule. I have been working toward that goal ever since. My husband noticed the change in my eating and my running schedule is actually... a real working schedule that I am keeping.
I remember thinking, at first, "hey... I bet I could run that?" and "I would LOVE to accomplish a marathon!"
It seemed innocent enough.

Today...I got a call from the client - she ran the marathon this weekend in San Diego.
She was so happy.
She was saying things like, "It was the best run I have had in years." and "I was focused on the journey of it all...I was happy to be there. It was great!"
She finished in 4 and 3/4 hours and beat her own record. She relayed to me that she has NEVER felt so proud of herself and she wanted me to know.

Now...after some thought, I was thinking... maybe I did trance a bit.
I can't imagine myself as a marathon runner and yet... I get some serious pleasure out of sticking to my schedule and working toward my goal.

I was wondering who trances with their clients?
and who has 'noticed' their own benefit from sessions?

I think it is GOOD.
Tranceing with a friend is like playing with familiar friend.

Tranceing with a NEW person is like making a NEW friend.

I do a lot of weight loss sessions. I tell my clients to eat half of the food on their plates and then feel full. I have noticed that I also feel full after eating half of my meals. Am I trancing myself, or am I just trying to walk my talk? I don't know, but I also have a much easier time keeping my weight down.

Hey -D

I make it a practice to trance and dance with my clients-

The entrainment can start in your pre-talk/intake - Just move into a resource state and enjoy being with and breathing with and listening to your client and they will join your resource state

I often notice unexpected benefits from working with clients this way - though, I'm guessing that if I got bit by the dreaded Marathon Bug during a session - I'd probably view it as a side-effect and detox it...

On the other hand - if it floats your boat -- You go girl!
