What is your experience working with clients who can't imagine things?

Have you ever had clients who cannot "imagine" anything? They just do not see any pictures in their mind, not even of things that they are very familiar with like their home, car etc. They can describe it: color, make etc, but do not see pictures. I am very visual and it is amazing that someone can function this way. Anyone?

Just a warning for anyone new who might not have come across this:
I am a highly visual person (although it would seem that I have a very strong kinaesthetic tendency; stronger than the visual element). I dream vividly. I can create detailed mental images easily... But put me in trance, I can't see a darned thing!
During training, we filmed me as the client. My answers were predominantly visual... Yet in trance, all was dark, regardless of the genius methods of addressing that (torches, lights, increasing TV brightness etc, using mirror/reflective surface...).
From this, I always ensure I address all senses- just in case there's another weirdo like me out there!
Are you doing the visualisation with their eyes closed?

I have found that some people need to have their eyes open to visualise, they just can not use the visual cortex unless they have it.

They can imagine but when they close their eyes all they can see is the inside of their eyelids. Actually that's all you see but your mind interprets patterns as visual. Other people don't. Never impose a reality, join them in theirs.

Using direct hypnosis in somnambulist state having their eyes open whilst under is no problem. Erickson and stage hypnotists do this all the time and get full blown visualisation.
Some people have a vivid imagination others have the way of feeling senses. There is alot of us that can not meditate and others that their mind wonder during the session. Its just them and you need to work with it..I usually ask them if they are visual, can they dream, can they see colors etc...after this you can work with them you can be very vivid in your induction and also find something they e joy as a relaxing moment use that in the beginning.

Nobody has ever heard about the technique "Do as If..."? For exemple, If someone says: "I can't see or feel nothing", you ask: "What it will be for you if...you could see or feel...this or that? What you would see, what you would feel...?" That's also what I understant under the concept "pretend". It's the capacity to play, like when we where kids (we aren't anymore?) and we where playing that we could fly...or be very couragous! Sorry about my english, I speak spanish. Congratulations for your web page!
