the Free Hypnosis Social Network
Im sure this may have been discussed before but i cant find anything so ill start a discussion anyway.
I would like to know what your favourite tool in your toolbox is and why. It can be for any reason and im sure we all have one or 2 favourites although this may change from time to time.
mine are the New behaviour generator and the control room just because they are so versatile and can be adapted to almost anything. They also promote the client taking control and making the changes !!
Through this discussion we can maybe all pick up some new skills from each other too !!

I had to think about this because I have a few favorites. Probably myfavorie, favorite, because it has so many uses in and out of the therapy room is anchoring. I can pretty much do anything with anchoring.
My second choice, which may sound strange coming from a hypnosis/NLP trainer is EFT. I dont necessarily believe the official version of how it works but when used correctly with proper questioning it works a treat and it can be taught to clients, family, friends in minutes.
Anchoring is more fun though!

Hypno-Jay,
Would you be open to briefly describing what New behavior generator and control room are exactly and results you have received from them. Sounds fascinating! I 'm very new to hypnosis, and am starting to practice it and also research mind body techniques as well as NLP. I look forward to hearing more!
Off course I would Brian, you will find that any info you want to know if you post a topic you will get some fantastic help,I have not been using the forums for long myself and people you should look out for and listen to are Barry Neale, Michael Ellner, John Cleesattell and Richard Nongaard.
Anyway
The new behaviour generator has many names and if you have been studying NLP you will have probably come across it already. It is also known as the rewind technique and V-K Dissassociation. For this example it will be used for a rframing the way a traumatising past event is remembered and to get rid of the feelings associated with it.
You get the client to imagine being in a cinema on their own, they will be completely safe in the cinema. Give them the control for the screen so they can play and stop etc at their will. Then get them to float out of their body and into the control room so they are watching themselves watching a picture of the traumatising event. (V-K Dissassociation) have them wimagine the opicture turning into a short movie of just before the event, through the event to just after and get them to notice their feeling. After this get them to rewind as fast as they can. On the next go alter some submodalities such as making it black and white, further away, smaller with no sound for e.g then get them to play it through again, then get them to float into the picture turn it into colour etc etc and get them to rewind the movie, turn back to black and white as previous and repeat 5-7 times. This will change the way the brain remembers the evenmt and therefore change the emotion connected to the memory. I hope this makes sense as i have rather rushed the reply, im sure that someone will jump in if i have neglected any part of the process in my description.
The control room is a technique where you get the client to go inside their own subconscious control room and find the switch for what you are trying to change i.e cravings to smoke, have them find the switch, alter it and leave it in the new position and lock it in place.
both can be applied to a variety of scenarios.

Permalink Reply by Kelley Woods on February 9, 2012 at 8:00am I'm with Barry! I like utilizing anchors and especially, collapsing anchors, as within the Ellner/Barsky Emotional Detox Technique.
You can use them in waking states or in deeper states, making them versatile and effective with most any client. You can apply them with the client's awareness or beneath it.
Analytical clients understand what associations are and grasp the science while intuitive, "emotion-based" thinkers may just follow the feelings!
Permalink Reply by John Cleesattel on February 9, 2012 at 9:22am My favorite tool is the managers meeting. It lets me know what the real problem is...and provides a path to correct it.
It provides a direct interactive contact with what I call the "judgmental" mind; which is the behavior/decision center of the mind.
What a lot of folks don't realize is that this part of our mind that controls our behavior has no exposure to the outside world. It doesn't know that time has passed or that things may have changed since a behavior was created.
A lot of times all that is required to effect a positive behavior change is to allow that part of us in charge of an unwanted behavior to be updated as to what has changed since it was created.

The other favorite of mine is future pacing.

I think it's so under utilized, I just love how much freedom there is once you've paced things well. Maybe it's pacing the client, their reality, their expectations, or something else. learning how to pace properly gives you so much flexibility and opportunity to impact change.

I enjoy making metaphors for the goal(s) of the client- then getting them to see, feel and be part of the metaphor, then give Direct Suggestions to the subconscious. I also like to Future - Pace them to see and feel the results and their life after they are reached our goal(s).
Hi all,
Well I'll be honest, i thought there might be more techniques listed but it seems anchors are the clear winners so far.
My favorite tool is a 5 part NLP Parts reframe. I use Parts on its own or inside other techniques. I think your success with hypnosis is directly releated to how well you can reframe your client's experience. And, I agree with Graham, relaxation may not be cool but it is highly beneficial to our clients.
