Mine was probably "Many Lives, Many Masters" by Brian Weiss

I've heard from many folks that "The Search for Bridey Murphy" by Morey Bernstein was their first.

Great replies.  I know of each of these books... and had to order Jon Chases 'Don't Look in His Eyes" just because you reminded me of it. Already have DeeperDeeper.    'Hypnosis for Change' is one that I bet many read first, suitable title and the right price.  I got a lot out of Kevin Hogan's book too.  Bandler's new Trance Formations book is a good update; a look back after so many years of actual practice with folks... still as sarcastic as ever, yet with slightly less bluster.

Thanks for all the replies.  Please, other HypnoThoughtsPeople let us know the book you first read that began to set your passion for hypnosis aglow.

An observation that may (or may not) hold water is that I find it interesting how each individual who has already shared his/her early influence(s) is most likely relating nowadays with an extended persona from it.
Lots of unique ideas can be found inside this less known read. And the present price is unbelievable and not reflecting in any way its value. So here is my gift to you, dear readers. Enjoy the bargain while you can!

Kransner's The Wizard Within, great.  and of course Training Trances.  Does anyone know where the author's  John and Julie are now?

Doc, I took you up on the gift... 45 cents plus shipping.

Any comments on The Search for Bridey Murphy?  I know of people who are not hypnotists and read that book as kids, and applied Bernstein's techniques, got results.... and were so freaked out at the power of hypnosis that they ran away from it rather than running towards it.  Because it was made into a movie in the 50's, and the author Morey Bernstein who was really a businessman and only an amature hypnotist, approached it as a piece of lay-research, it had a big influence in the mainstream illuminating the power of hypnosis in an unbiassed manner... and it opened the popular discussion of the  possibility of past lives which was not a comment bit of conversation at the time.

Do you folks know of this book, the movie, and the audio recordings of his sessions that were sold as albums?
