Hi,

I'm getting ready to offer hypnosis practice sessions in Denver and would like to put together a list of resources for people who are interested in learning as much as they can about the study of hypnosis.

I'd like to ask you for the title of your favorite book on the topic?

Feel free to let me know if you have written one, too!

I look forward to your responses.

Have a great day!

Yes, I absolutely must add that book to the list!

Wishing you the best.

Ormond McGill's "Hypnotherapy Encyclopedia".
Then another 1000:)
I am so glad I asked, Leshem.

I personally get so caught up in counseling/hypnotherapy theory that I completely forget about the work of great leaders like Ormond McGill. Thanks!

Have a great day!

Hi Jackie,

That is a classy looking book. I never thought about carrying it around before. I bet it does generate a lot of interest.

You're a genius!

Thank you so much Ayelet.

I really like the idea about using Salad Cards, those will help greatly.

Wishing you a wonderful day,

Hi all,

I recommend:
1. Therapeutic Metaphors: Helping Others Through the Looking Glass (by David Gordon)
2. Salad Cards (they are flash cards that can help you learn hypnotic language patterns).
Thank you Gail,

It does seem like it would be a highly comprehensive book to recommend to people learning hypnosis. I'll add it to the list.

May your day be great!

For an alternative point of view of hypnosis that I think has some merit, go to James Tripp's website http://www.hypnosiswithouttrance.com/ and sign up for the free eBook explaining hypnosis without trance.
Hello Sheila,

One of my favorites is http://www.amazon.com/Through-Open-Door-Secrets-Self-Hypnosis/dp/15... by Kevin Hogan and Mary Lee LeBay. It has valuable information for both the hypnotically untrained and the more experienced reader.

Regards,

Kelley
Thank you for sharing, Greg. That is a very nice website.

Have a great day!

Hi Sheila, there is loads of freely available info at my hypnosis articles site
Hi Sheilah,

I'd have to agree with Michael about "A CRITICAL History of Hypnotism: the UNauthorized story", but seeing
as how I'm the author I'll understand if you take my remark with the proverbial grain of salt...; - )
However, if you read the preface and those 7 free chapters on my website (best read in PDF format), and
then check out some of those the stellar reviews and testimonials, you might well become interested in reading
the rest of it...
Cheers,

Saul

Hi Sheilah,
I am currently studying at D.S.H. I would love to be involved with your practice group.(I also live in Denver.) My favorite book is Sidney Rosen's My Voice Will Go With You: The Teaching Tales of Milton H.Erickson. I'm reading it for the second time now. Erickson understood the fundamentals of patterns and how we live them out. A true inspiration.
