My most memorable moment was doing my very first regression with a friend dealing with a little 'gremlin' of himself as a 9 year old. This was on skype and using the video and voice I took him back to have a chat with the little one who came out very aggressively when the client got put in a stressful position. I will never forget watching this man who was very emotional before we even started due to a situation that caused the gremlin to stick its head out while dealing with his own son. I watched as he lovingly explained to the little one visualized sitting on a chair in front of the older self. how he needed no longer be the protector. I then asked him to switch places with the little one....that is when it hit me . I watched as the adult personality 'disappeared ' and the 9 year old emerged. Posture, voice tone, language and overall personality changed before my very eyes on the screen. I was able to speak to the little one and have a full conversation with him, while he was squirming restlessly in the chair . The two even proceed to have a talk with the mother. At the end, of assuring the little one that he was loved and that he was not expected to take on that heavy a role as the client was grown and fully capable of defending himself, I asked the client to bring the little guy into the imaginary trance chair he was sitting in. The tenderness and love I saw will always be the icing on the whole process.

I know I will have many other experiences after this one, but I doubt that anyone will leave as deep an impression as this one did. I am grateful that this client allowed me to share this very special moment is his life and on his way to recovering.
Great topic Leo, thanx for posting this inspiring question.

My most memorable moments are plural, because it's more like reoccurring insights;
-When I first learned what the process of hypnosis was, I realized I had allready hypnotized whole rooms, when I was giving lectures in esoterica.
-Thinking back on a remark one of my therapists gave, when I was committed to a psych-ward, who said:
"I don't know HOW you do it, but when we are having a staff-meeting, that isn't even about you, as soon as your name is spoken, the whole staff-meeting falls into chaos."
Long have I pondered upon that expression, and suddenly I realized, I had hypnotized all of my therapists, and staff-members, that I had "casually" talked with. (At that time I was convinced that a person has a certain "element", and I believed my "element" to be chaos) I didn't know yet, that I was not only hypnotizing the staff, I was unconsciously doing confusion-inductions to all whom I talked with.

There are so much, but these two are really the most memorable, and both part of my repertoire when doing edutainment-seminars.
Hi Leo,

My most memorable moment was a personal one: while showing my 80 yr old mother, who is an eternal optomist, how to use a ideomotor pendulum, she decided to ask what she thought was a no-brainer..."Was she looking forward to a weekend sailing trip with friends?"

Her expression showed shock as the immediate answer was "NO" and, staring at me, she exclaimed, "Well, that's right...I'm secretly dreading it because all I do is cook and clean!"

It was one of the few times in my life I saw her veil of happiness drop for a few moments and ironically, it really did make her happy...and relieved to acknowlege her authentic feelings.

I'll always remember that incident.

Clinically, I can think of a few.

I had a young girl (Father is a Pharmacist in town) come in because her Dermatologist suggested she use hypnosis to remove warts that were on her hands, arms & legs. After 6 sessions (about 5 weeks), all of the warts were gone! This is documented.

I had a woman who misplaced $30,000 worth of jewerly in her home. She could not find it. Then she called me after one session and said that while lying in bed this morning, she got up, as if in a dream, went downstairs and reached way in the back of the hutch where she found her jewelry!

As a stage hypnotist for over 20 years, I have had many memorable moments. In fact, every show blows my mind.

That's all for now.

Hi Leo. SUCH a good idea for a discussion thread.

Mine sounds so bland but meant so much to me personally that I thought I would add it to the list. It was the first time I did some changework. I helped a friend stop biting her nails.
A couple of weeks after the session (which I thought had failed) when she showed me her nails had all grown back (she used to bite them down to the flesh without even realising what she was doing) it was the most amazing feeling. I genuinely thought I was going to burst into tears!!

In the midst of all the amazing, eye-opening, mind-bending experiences I have had in the short time I have been studying and using hypnosis, how strange that the memory of something so mundane still means so much to me.
Tim - I am sure your friend does not consider it mundane at all.
My most memorable moments were:

1) When I did my first stage show and yelled sleep and everyone fell over. I thought to myself "Cool! This stuff actually works!"

2) When I did a hypnosis show at a birthday party and sent back the last volunteer, so that I was the only one left on the stage. I thought to myself "Maybe I was wrong about this working..."
Wow Guys, and Ladies :)

This sounds fantastic and also quite inspiring,
Thanks for all the replies do hope to see many more,

Personally... When I first begun hypnosis I read everything there was and soon as I got the chance begun to attempt what I learned, My Friend, no matter what I tried on her, it would not work and I began to doubt if it ever would work and if hypnosis even existed...

Then One Day, during physics tution, my tutor took a break and we started talking and naturally... HYPNOSIS was on my mind and being a cool and open minded guy he offered, I was not so confident after everything but I told myself just do it, the worst thing that could happen is nothing.

So I sat him down, and it worked... I was so excited at my first induction I woke him up and went for more... I guess I will always remember my first ever induction, now im teaching it and doing hypnotherapy, shows and radio interviews and seminars... the best part is I managed to get my First ever induction on tape so I can always look back at how far I have come :)

My most memorable experience was listening to a client who had come in to relieve her fears of public speaking. At the beginning of one (of the 5) session she reported that she could now eat lunch alone in a restaurant for the first time in her life (at 36). Not only did she eat alone, but she was eating and watching another woman who was alone, thinking "I wish I could do that" and then realized that she was doing that! Oh, and she did overcome her fears of public speaking as well. In fact, she aced her French class.
Great topic!

My most memorable moment in hypnosis was at the end of a regression, seeing a younger version of myself, freed from his room after so many years, running off to play on the big slide.

Lic
John, thats brilliant, I have had the same experience, but in the opposite order... once I went to believing I never stepped back... once you get into hypnosis its almost impossible to turn back...

I attened a 6 week Ericksonian training in Germany let by a psychologist, for a class of psychologists. I flew back and forth every other week from Kansas.
I had a blast, explored Germany and will remember it forever.
I also learned the Ericksonian psychologists have very little understanding of hypnosis and that the entire class taught very little.
