Hi Rick, and all other members,

I find the topic of Ethics to be a very valuable point in the art of "manipulation", and believe any lack of ethics displays a shortage of common sense, and social awareness.
Glad to see kindred spirits :)

I believe the deal about notes are that one has to be flexible. One girl friend who was very successful would not share her notes with me because the hypnosis was remedial. I concur because I am so analytical, I would wear away the success trying to find the why. On the other hand discovery really requires a post talk.

Ron,

While there is a chance that it will not harm their progress, I think it is more likely that it can... Therefore, I would prefer to keep a "better-safe-than-sorry" approach.

Jonathan, I wonder...

whether or not your declaration that the clent seeing your notes "can only harm their wonderful progress" is really so. Personally I can imagine the possibility of seeing your notes not harming the client and so would you consider such imaginings "unrealistic"?

Personally, legality or not, I would politely decline showing the notes to my client, and explain how well they're doing, and this can only harm their wonderful progress.

Hi Rick,

In my view, law is written for the small amount of people with questionable ethics in the first place and since their ethics are questionable it is also questionable if a law can and will have much influence on their behavior. I admit it could deter or modify their behavior to some negligible extent but I suspect education might be a more effective way to influence one to change one's beliefs about ethics (or perhaps anything for that matter).

Hi Guys:

I am inclined to believe what is law does not matter. I believe ethics supercede law and I hope no one gets to the point of having to consider their actions on a legal basis. The guide must be, what is best for the client and the world in general. About Notes....well I would say what the notes contain makes the difference. If the notes were discovery and the client paid for discovery then the notes are the clients. I have one more session with my training tist and I am bringing a recorder. I am trying to clarify and deal with some old memories of prior hypnosis.

Jonathan, not withstanding the...

legality of the matter, I'm wondering what your choice might be in such a case if you care to share it.
