What is this class and is it available to hypnotists? I sure would love to understand what some of their jottings in my profile means.
PS. I believe EVERYONE should have a copy of their own medical records. I do. It's amazing what you learn.
Permalink Reply by Susan French on August 2, 2011 at 9:23am @William Engle--thank you, thank you, thank you. My feeling was handwriting analysis at a cursory level of knowledge stands side by side with astrology (which I happen to find has some validity but not enough). An inexact 'science' to begin with, the elementary level of education made HA a distraction for me. Most of those things I can tell by being in rapport with the client. Thank goodness I haven't gotten the "felon's claw" yet but I don't even use it any more.
However, I did figure out from my study of Dr. Paul Ekman's work in the science of body language and other similar studies that since our physiology creates our body movements, that those movements can reflect what is experienced by the subject in handwriting. In other words, if someone tends to be rigid, this rigidity could be expressed in handwriting.
Similarly, if a subject's basic personality is creative, optimistic or risk-taking, gregarious, generous, egotistical, for instance, these traits can be expressed in the handwriting.
Therefore, I believe that handwriting analysis can help if you can take a quick look and you're not particularly good at reading or sensing the personality or character traits or perspectives from simply being in rapport and paying attention.
Matter of preference, I guess.

Permalink Reply by Caitlin Brydon, Ht on September 10, 2011 at 5:44pm I love handwriting analysis because it does point out where the client is hiding information or their true feelings about something. It really helps me when I do a post-session review to plan the next appointment.
Also, it's a great party trick or to impress your coworkers.

They are having most children just stick with printing everything. (ugh) So it's important to start learning how to also read print. HMI or AHA I will be looking for a handwriting class that addresses printed writing. I did find information in Sheila Low's books on the subject. I think it's along the lines of gestalt handwriting analysis.
