@Karen,
I read her book as well and found a lot of really good ideas. By the same token, I think that the problems one encounters with weight loss clients is so very complex and varied, I found that I had to learn much more. I read many books on the subject and I, myself, catch Overeaters Anonymous meetings online fairly regularly.
I think that you need to have some knowledge of science of metabolism, weight gain and loss, as well as the possible physiological complications. You can't diagnose but you need to at least be aware of this information. Drs Oz and Roizen (yes, THAT Dr. Oz) wrote a fabulous book that is chock full of all the latest in medical information about food, digestion, good foods, bad foods, foods that help you to be full, foods that make you hungry and so on. The book is "You on a Diet." I hate the name but the information has no equal.
I've also done a lot of studying of the addictive, psychological, stress-related comfort eating and binging as well as how our culture has created a multitude of eating disorders. I think this information is also essential. One good book is "Anatomy of a Food Addiction: The Brain Chemistry of Overeating "by Anne Katherine, M.A.
If you have the basics of weight reduction usiing hypnosis and NLP, but add the above studies, you will probably have most of the information you need to 'triage." I also suggest that my weight clients check out "Overeaters Anonymous" online meetings because it is a free and easy way to deal with the psychological/stress problems of eating disorders. Do a search for online meetings of OA.
Since this is an HMI group, I found Lisa Mac's weight loss protocol to be enormously helpful and quite unique.

I found Weightloss 101 to be great. I make sure my clients have a pedometer, monitor their water intake etc. I also give then the information on glucose levels, portion sizes, and proteins.
I also do Virtual Gastric Banding, and will incorporate all the info into one package. I find the more info I give the client, the better the results.
I'm constantly reminded of Candice Brown's quote; Never take the blame, Never take the credit. :)

How are you promoting your weight loss programs and how are you setting your fees for this line of service?
I have just started the program and look forward to gleaning additional tools. I especially like the referral letters included.
Affirming slim and healthy bodies and minds for all our clients!

Hello Everyone,
I am working with my 1st weight client after taking this class. I have worked this issue in the past. Nice to have a framework. As a member of the AHA, I have been watching all the live case studies online too. There is 1 six session series with Susie facilitating. So grateful for that resource to see the therapy in action with real clients. Definitely a valuable resource. I am not in CA so this has kept me connected to HMI and all the wisdom it has to offer. Look forward to hearing about your successes!
I sure did.I thought it was ok. It was just one of those things I did want on my wall that is why I personally paid extra and thought it was worth it from a credibility view point. Did you take it?
