Hello Everyone,
I am writing from Albuquerque, NM. Since graduating in 2001 from HMI, I have had a part-time practice complemented with my work as a Clinical Music Therapist, Healing Arts Practitioner, Ordained Minister, and musician. Just started a new entity with my husband, Trance-formed Consciousness, LLC and starting back up with clients again after a few years off working in the ministry.
Previous to HMI, I did my initial training in the field in the early 90's with the American Institute of Hypnotherapy, and attended some great conferences put on by the ABH (their sister organization) and other miscellaneous studies. How about you?
Would love to know where you are and what you are up to since graduating? Let's keep this an active group.
Blessings,
Giselle

I graduated a few months ago and am currently trying to get my own practice going. Right now I do mostly hypnosis over Skype, although I do have my own little office I managed to snag for $350 a month, furniture and utilities included. I still work part-time as lab tech at my father's business.
Warm Regards,
John

Congratulations on graduating. Its great that you have found an office. Any burning shares about doing hypnosis over skype. I haven't done that yet. Do you have a personal or business account?
Thanks for sharing!

Permalink Reply by Jill Semonin PhD- CHt on December 4, 2011 at 9:34am I am currently practicing in my home office. I also work using phone and skype as well... love it. I have considered getting an office, so I can have more hours available with-out making my family go away or stay still when I have a client. So, I mostly schedule when everyone is gone, which has worked out very well. My office has it's own entrance, so I have been lucky to have the set up I do.
I am also a DJ/Karaoke host on some nights. I also perform and DJ for weddings. I know... I do a lot, but... I love having multiple incomes. I am actually able to sneak in what I do during my nights out.... most people are intrigued and want to hear more.
I thought of the two: Hypnosis and Karaoke.... and came up with Hypnoke (TM). That is right... I trademarked it, so it's all mine. I get the singers alright... they have a blast. My employers like that I bring in more business, then those who need a hypnotist for clinical stuff.... they know who to call. It's not stage hypnosis, but it is entertaining... and the audience loves it as they have the urge to want to sing more.... (wink). I do love my playtime.
So that is what I am up to... <3

Hypnoke...Sounds like fun! I think there are many, myself included who are eclectic these days. I support authenticity, and that means giving ourselves permission to explore and express all our talents and interests without the need to be limited by others narrow expectations of what should be. Do you have any special area of practice?
Blessings,

Permalink Reply by Jill Semonin PhD- CHt on December 5, 2011 at 5:26pm Hi Giselle. it is fun.... and I am one of those who love to get my clients laughing by the time they are done. My specialty in hypnosis is self esteem and/or confidence. Mainly because with either of the two, they can make the change they need to.
I have always been the outgoing type of happy go lucky kind of person... while i must admit, I have had some serious tough times, i still know how to pull someone else out of a slump in a heartbeat, just to have a good time.
Be Well and HAVE FUN doing it.

Took a quick look at your website. Nice to have a Hypno-Sister in this part of the country. Haven't been to Denver yet. Hope to make it sometime. Thanks for checking in!
Blessings and thanks,
Giselle

Ooooh, I guess I'm late to this one. I graduated in April 2008, and started my full time practice just before the economy dumped on us. In that time, (4 years+) as of now I have a 6 figure practice and have another hypnotherapist reporting to me, and am about to bring an MD/PsyD into the practice to help create teaching curriculum in medical hypnosis. So, as for the bad economy, as the saying goes, "I'm not participating." I have found a welcoming world and many open doors. I wish THE BEST for all of you! HMI gave me a fantastic foundation and continues to provide ongoing training and support through AHA that I find very valuable. You can't go wrong with HMI. I researched them when I was deciding what training to take, back in 2007, and found another HMI grad in my area who told me it's "the Cadillac of hypnosis schools." I can't agree more.
Permalink Reply by Giselle Felicia Vivian on February 7, 2012 at 7:34am Never too late Cindy. Thanks for sharing. Great news and reminder to not get hypnotized by the fluctuating financial forecasts. I too value all the resources of the AHA. Especially, since I have yet to really connect with other local hypnotists for this kind of congenial sharing and learning. Wondering where are you based and any advice to share as best practices for practice building?
Blessings and welcome!
