As anyone studying this field is well aware, there is a bewildering amount of information out there.  I’m looking for the opinion of some seasoned Hypnotists; what would your
top ten recommended reading list be for a beginner?

I realize this will be a very personal opinion and that opinions will very widely, but that’s OK with me.  I would like to know what you come up with.

Well I've started reading "The Phone Book" and after the first chapter wondered what all the rave was about, but now 3/4 through the book, it's a very enjoyable and further confirmation of that I've already studied, and really brings it home

Hi Nancy I agree with TC

Trancework by Michael Yapko is a really good book and I just bought Trance-formations.

I also like :

Roy Hunter's books The art of hypnosis is a really good one.

Self hypnosis and other mind expanding Techniques, by Charles Tebbets

Creative Scripts for hypnotherapy, by Marlene Hunter

My voice will go with you, by Sydney Rosen

Hiya, yes there are a huge amount of books out there and nothing more disappointing to receive one and find it is "meh" but most are terrific.  My most recent brilliant find is "Hypnotherapy Scripts" by Ronald A. Havens and Catherine Walters.  Fits in with the kind of hypnotherapist I am.

Transformations - one of my bibles.

Anything by Shakti Gawain

4 great practical staples are:

Hartland's Medical & Dental Hypnosis - David Waxman

Ideomotor Signals for Rapid Hypnoanalysis - a how-to manual - Damney M. Ewin and Bruce N. Eimer (I use the intake sheet from this book)

Handbook of Hypnotic Sugestions and Metaphors - Ed. D. Corydon Hammond,

The Secret Language of Hypnotherapy - John Smale

Cheers,

Adrienne
