I'm still new to this site, so I hope I am doing this correctly.

If I were to try to help someone in the area of bereavement, I would probably use this approach with the client.

I would first achieve somnambulism, probably using the Elman (already described in Script group).

(This would be a good time to be sure one is prepared to handle an abreaction, should it occur.)

I would consider that eliminating the feelings of grief, etc. might be inappropriate because of the possibility of causing the client to experience feelings of guilt for not feeling the grief.

I would hand the client something that the subconscious would recognize as a storage device, i.e. computer disk, index file box, flashlight battery, etc., explaining that it is, in fact, a storage device. I would then ask the client to bring all the sad, painful feelings to the surface, really feel them, make sure they are all there, then send them down through the arm, the hand, then into the storage device where they can be kept forever and accessed anytime the client feels the need.

Tom, I think this is such a good way to proceed - memories, good AND bad, are so precious... by effectively preserving them, to be accessed at will, but keeping them in a separate place, hopefully the client will be able to start moving on. Thank you for sharing.
