"Does It Work?"

I got this question again last Saturday: "So I hear you're a hypnotist. Does it really work?" My answer: "No, I am a scam artist who takes money from unsuspecting losers." Then I smile and say, "Yes,…Continue

Good answers, George and Dan!

My wife, a Tarot reader, gets people who say, "I don't believe in the cards," to which she replies, "That's all right; the cards believe in you!"

Welcome, Dan.  Erickson was known to use that trick too!

"I don't believe in hypnosis."  My confident reply, said with a smile: "That's awesome. I specialize in hypnotizing skeptics." This actually works pretty well. You're not resisting their skepticism but embracing it--instant rapport. And there is a great trick I learned from Jon Chase--you just ask them to imagine what it would like if hypnosis WAS real and pretend it's happening to them. Usually after that, they are out! :)

I get this all the time...

What's your guarantee?

My answer...  I guarantee that I'm going to do my part perfectly, but are you going to do your part?

That has always shut that question down cold.

Just freed up enough time, to read some posts just for the fun of reading.  A rare luxury these days!

Thanks for starting this group James.

Thanks for the invite James!  This looks like fun - meant to join immediately but was swamped... every now and then someone with nothing really wrong with them wants to know if I can find out what REALLY happened on a night when they got wrecked and cannot recall... well, anything much. Hypnosis-as-truth-drug-fallacy!
