I'd forgot this group was here, it's been so long.

Glad to see at least a couple of people posting here.

I'll look back again soon.

Some of you here may find this article interesting that I posted to my main hypno website several years ago entitled "Developing a Queer-friendly Health Practice: Supporting Sexual Minority Clients" :

http://www.guidedmindtour.com/articlesqueerfriendly.shtml

I would love to have that link passed on to those who can benefit from it if you care to share it out, and also really really appreciate feedback and adding to my own ideas, thanks.

I also have a page on that site about Erotic Hypnosis specifically, some of which pertains to LGBT specific concerns, and another site you may want to check out:

http://www.queerhypno.com

way open to feedback, etc. thanks

Hey everyone,

Great to see this group on Hypnothoughts!!  Although it was your initial question almost a year ago, Noah, I think it remains an important one about what sorts of issues predominate in LGBT populations, etc.

I think that smoking cessation and fitness issues, just like with everyone, are very common among LGBT clients, over the years here in SF I have seen a lot of folks to work on issues of improving self-esteem, clearing internalized homophobia, relationship issues/support, and definitely substance use issues.

Last, while I have no idea if it is greater proportionately to non-sexual minority community occurrence, trauma clearing comes up a lot... maybe not more frequent trauma, but due to likely higher self-awareness and empathy due to growing up in heterosexist culture without necessarily even the support of a family of origin that shares the sexual minority status and protection, LGBTs I find are more likely to be aware of and willing to work on trauma toward resolution.

thanks, peace,

Heron

Welcome new members!!  Again, I don't check this group as often as I might, but I'm glad we have a space to get together.

I don't look at this group as often as I might -- and I find there are now seven members!!  Apparently there is not much need for discussion of GLBT issues, but I am glad to know that we are a quiet reminder that, just like everywhere else, in every other profession and pursuit, we're here, and our numbers are growing.  Welcome to all the new members whom I've sadly neglected to welcome.

That's it? There are only 4 of us? Seriously, glad to see this group on here. Personally I do a lot more entertaining than clerical work, so I rarely deal with glbt issues - except when auto correct changes glbt to glut!

Well... fortunately actually.

Hi Guys,

JUst thought you might want to check out this discussion thread (which is now unfortunately closed).

Love and hugs,

As a gay man who hopes to practice in his community, I'm aware that tobacco use among gay men and women has an incidence much higher than the general population, so I expect to be dealing with that a LOT.  Does anybody else have any comments on possible practice areas with which gay hypnotherapists will likely be confronted?
