the Free Hypnosis Social Network
I have done hypnosis now in 2 states and in 1 very large state (CA) which just feels like it is really 4 states.
In each location (and you can apply this perhaps to your country or province depending on where you live), I have had to be very careful to make sure that I am following the Regulations.
In the US, most of the states treat hypnosis and hypnotherapy as a Complimentary or Alternative healthcare modality.
However, some states treat it like it is nearly made up or lumps it together with fortune telling instead of something practical which also helps people medically and dentally.
First: Know Your State Regulations
CA requires a form be used where the most important information we cover with our clients is that we are not a licenses physician. I am not here to diagnose what is going, be prescriptive, or offer supplements or prescription medicine.
Las Vegas requires a significant background check if you are doing Hypnosis in Clark County.
Be sure you have a business license for the city where you operate and do business. It can take a few days to over a week or two for the city employees to find the right categories for your business and to understand you are a professional hypnotist not a Psychic Reader/Fortune Teller. Generally you do wan to distinguish yourself that way so that you have a professional reputation with the city, the local chamber of commerce, and the business community in your vicinity.
Joining a local Hypnosis Practice group or forming one in your area immediately gives you a professional network of other professional hypnotists, often with different backgrounds than yours and with different specialties (Sports Performance - Phobias - Addictions - Weight Loss). You all will often be each others' best resources for identifying the better cities to have your office in and the ones to avoid.
What is is like in your state of residency as a hypnotist?
Any states or cities which you prefer to avoid as a professional hypnotist?
