The (m.b.s.r.) techniques that I am familiar with that have helped overcome stress levels to whatever degree, have been redirecting my thoughts of self, others, situations, expectation, into the direction of my own body. For the most part I tend to consentrate on my breathing or my belly. By doing this "redirection" this helps to clear away the "static in the attic", so that my focus in turn becomes more keen.

I practice mindfulness meditation also, Vipassana meditation. It has been my experience that a lot of people seem to like the "thought" of meditating, but find the idea of being alone with their thoughts unnerving. I am wondering if anyone has used hypnosis on clients, as a prelude to meditation, or to allow suggestions of ability to reach that calm place, where meditation can take place.
I have been able to reach the point of "no thought" and it is so wonderful, I would love to help others experience this also.
I was thinking along the same lines as you Wendy, by using N.L.P. to enhance ones meditation practice, and / or using Guided Imagery in conjuction with N.L.P. to see if a person in question can acheive accelerated effects with becoming more comfortable with Vipassana, or any type of meditation.

I wrote this because I feel that here in the west people tend to be too easily distracted by their own selffishness, and the everyday distrations of western civilization.

~ thanks ...
