Has anyone trained with him? I pickup his masterclass DVDs and it's good stuff. I didn't know he was into NLP and hypnosis but he mentions both on his tapes. I have read his books for years and was wondering if anyone on the group either has trained with him or knows someone who has. If so, please share your thoughts.
take care,
Jeff

Permalink Reply by Jeff on December 31, 2010 at 2:51am Geoff, was a door man in UK "bouncer here in the states" back in the day late 60's, 70's. A couple of his friends were killed in handling fights in the door. Geoff studied and has black belts in shotokan, judo and has even studied boxing but his style is very simple from what I have seen but very effective. He has been in Black Belt in the past and other mags. He believes in using the "fence" {hands up in a defensive stance keeping distance between you and the attacker} and when this is failing using a first strike theory usually a very relax right or left cross. He teaches allot of being at peace using NLP and hypnosis. He is one of the real life old warriors still around who has made the complete circle in the arts. in that he went from anger to love and forgiveness. Geoff, grew up being molested as a child, learning to forgive the attacker and learning to love. Telling hate and anger from the molesting was the cause or fuel of his anger for years which got him into many fights that he could have walk away from. He has wrote several books one being a good read, "Watch my back". I was hoping someone had personally trained with him and would share their thoughts as to his NLP and hypnosis work in the arts.
I am a fan of Geoff’s. I have read / watched most of what he has on the market and I have trained with a few of his students. I see his approach to the “Fence” as his greatest contribution to the martial arts. I use and teach it as a mindset / mental skills tool and not just a physical defensive posture. His work is certainly worth looking at.
