Hello, I'm pretty new as I graduated in May of 2010 and started my practice in September of 2010. I find we learn from each of our clients things will come up in each session that was not covered in school. Hypnothoughts is wonderful for us newbies. We can share, grow and learn here.
It's nice to know this group is here for us on the learning curve.
Thank you,
Brenda
Hi Everyone.
I'm quite new to hypnosis, and have yet to hypnotise anyone. I'm working in the technical field, but hypnosis has facinated me to no end. I want to do hypnosis in my spare time and have been gathering any information I could get on the internet.
Starting out I feel quite overwhelmed since there is so much information and so much overlap between stage hypnosis, NLP and even mentalism.
For example NLP can be used in both the pre-talk, as well as hypnotic process itself, and even the deepener. Even mentalism can be used to some extent to increase the effectiveness of a hypnosis session.
The idea of becoming a "generalist" hypnotist to combine various techniques to greater effect has a lot of appeal to me, since I can always "Specialise" once I have a better general understanding of how this all works, but I'm unsure if this is the best way foward.
Any thoughts on the subject would be GREATLY appreciated.
Kallie
Thanks for the kind words Antonio :)

Janie, contact John Cleesattel on this website and ask him about his smoking program. I've heard great things about it.
Good luck
I am still in my hypnosis training. My instructor told us we were at the point that we could hypnotize anyone, so I gave my first try with some one who wants to quit smoking.
I was calm and relaxed, and did not feel nervous going into the session and during the session as well. The person I was working with seemed to respond well to the relaxation, I used PMR. I studied the script I decided to use and felt comfortable about my decision.
After the session, she told me how relaxed she felt, and she told me what a great relaxing voice I have, and she was optimistic. I felt very good about how the session. Then in talking with her a few hours later she told me that she had smoked, but that she had a delay in the time she would have smoked before.
I feel I failed her and me with the hypnotic experience. I know this was my first try at hypnotizing someone, but I feel I did not do something right.
Any thoughts?
Janie
Stacey Phillips asked: This might sound very naive but how can one protect themselves from inadvertently being hypnotised by their trainer? does anyone else have similar experiences or suggestions please!
The easiest way is to not follow their instructions :)
