So, you want some technique critique or some practical experience - why not trade hypnotic recordings with each other?

You can get free recording software at: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Make it something generic, such as relaxation and keep it fairly short - say 10 to 20 minutes.

Later on, you can put it on your web site as a sample of your voice or give it to clients.  It will be good practice for the recordings you will make later on.

Just remember to be constructive with your criticisms, recognizing that people are often nervous the first time they record.

You can choose to script it or not, whatever you prefer.

So, to start it off, who will trade a recording with me?

Hi Bill, I just saw this post.  I am creating cd's for clients and still learning how to use my  audio creating software.  It seems to be working, but I feel I could do better then with the software I'm using. I will have to check out the software you mention above.

I've found one client who could not open the cd on her laptop or her player, so I resent the same file with sendthisfile to her computer where she can now open it and play it.

Technical I am not. So I guess I need to learn how to create a cd that will open in all formats?

Any advice?

Thanks,

Brenda

ps, I have several weight loss cd's and a smoking cessation cd which I've created for clients. Nothing yet on anxiety or relaxation I could give it a go and post it for you when I get one set up.

Hi Brenda,

There are people here who are much more technical than I.  I do everything in mp3.  I haven't burned to a cd in years.  If the file is too big for email, I use https://www.yousendit.com/ so they can download it to their iPod or personal player.

My recommendation is to play recordings while going to sleep, so an mp3 player is more practical than a CD player.  You can put the ear buds in, slide the machine under the pillow an relax!  It turns off automatically.

Bill

I hadn't seen this before either Bill.. sorry.

Brenda...

Also.. you can burn mp3 files to a CD and they all play just fine. I play them in the CD player I have next to my bed, which also shuts off when finished.

John

I've been using a Real Player to record and thought I was recording as MP3, but for some reason this client can't seem to play it on her player or laptop?  She said she can play it once I email the same recording to her email.  So I wonder if it is the real player recording not working with her media player -- or my windows 7 not working with her os?

This is the first client who has had any issues playing my cd's?

I can play them on my equipment as well.

That is why it puzzles me that she is the only one who can't seem to play them unless I email them to her.

I did download the audacity as Bill has suggested, so I can play around with it and learn how to use it and see if that works better for this client?  I have one more recording to make for her.  So I will give it a go with Audacity and check it out.

I like the fact your player turns off when done, that is a great feature John.  Good if you are doing sleep therapy to just float off to sleep.

Thanks for your advice, I will give it a try as well to double check that I'm burning as mp3.

Cheers!

Brenda
