Ground Rules

Okay, since this is a group about stage hypnosis, but not for selling your shows, here are a few ground rules:

1) Please show respect to all members by not spamming the group with pleas for bookings, agencies or gigs. If you want to do that, feel free to start a group dedicated to marketing stage hypnosis.

2) No multiple conversations on the same topic. If you post multiple conversations with the same content, you will get One Warning, ONE suspension and then you will be removed from the group.

3) Please show respect to all members of the group, even if you disagree with them. Argue issues and ideas, not people and personalities.

4) Have FUN!

5) SHARE

6) Lastly, this is not the place for arguments about whether stage hypnosis is "ethical" or "proper" or not. Take that as a given for this group. If you disagree - fine, but please... this is NOT the place for it.

Richard, Having a DJ on hand is not always a practical solution although having a sound and camera person is something that can be done for large corporate shows many times people are working with budget and travel considerations that make that a difficult proposition.

I spent years hiring on site staff for events and the headache is not worth the cost for smaller venues.

Finding effective remote triggering devices not only cut costs and HR overhead they also give you a lot of flexibility to change things on the fly if you are prepared.

Yes a DJ can certainly change things on the fly but if they do not know your material and variations by heart they can mess a show up quickly.

I personally always have a DJ with me who acts as the MC before and after the show and he is responsible for all music programming and warming up the audience as well as making sure sound checks are done and volume and lighting is accurate. The DJ coordinates with my camera crew to ensure the best possible DVD production post show- I have DJs in all 50 states if any of you need one they can probably assist. Before a show i need quiet time and to be able to focus without worrying about sound and AV

I just plugged a wireless lav transmitter into the iPod and that seems to do the trick. (mono) The built-in AirTunes thing is supposed to work. You should just be able to plug the AirPort Express into the amp. It worked great at home but on the road it didn't sync up. I think I need the 4th Gen touch for that to work. Laptop instead of express, even better. Ain't technology grand?

Brian if you use anything with a IR remote you will have a very limited distance and the IR remote does not keep the Ipod awake so can be a real headache also bright rooms cause a lot of problems...

While I am on this thread How many of you would be interested in having a effective remote system, what would you want it to do and what do you think would be a good price point.?

It is a shame that Icue went out of business and Show tech is not what it used to be.

I have 2 Ique's and back up first gen Ipods for them along with a few spare parts...

Brian how much you pay depends on what your going to use it for. I use a ShowTec and that can run up to $2000.00 but you can control your music and lights or fog machine if you use one from a remote in your pocket. the Ipods are nice and I use to use a remote controlled CD player for years. One think to keep in mind is RF vs IR, RF is Radio Frequency and can be controlled from the other room of the back of a stage in the sound booth from your pocket. An Inferred Remote controller in line of site meaning that you have to be able to see you Ipod or what ever your using.  I ran into problems with the CD player becase the sound system was not alway close to the stage. I even put a sound man in my contract but as you will see in some of my shows I would have to depend on the sound man to find the track and play it.

Hi Brian,
Yes the Ipod does have a charger/remote.
It has a audio / video output to hook-up to a sound system, and it has a remote to work the Ipod.
I bought mine from an Apple store, but I'm sure other retailers sell them.
Hope this helps.

Does anyone have any recomendations for remote control of Itunes or an Ipod so that a show can be done WELL without a sound man?

Thanks Dan.  If they can't restore the  old posting I'm going to redo the full show how to video and put it back up in 15 minute blocks. I see a lot of people asking how to market their shows, so I'm going to add that to my site that was on the hypnosis training board.  Dan and ideas else about  want you would like to see?

Oh that sucks, James! Hope they are able to restore it. I am putting some of your excellent advice to work this very week.

Thanks for your generosity and insight!
