I am interested in learning Forensic Hypnosis.  Does anyone know of an online training opportunity for this ( a reputable one, I mean), or even one in correspondence-type format would work.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Rita I would begin by making sure evidence and testimony derived through hypnosis is admissible in your state or the states you desire to work in. In some states it is and some states it is not admissible.

I received my certification for investigative hypnosis through TCLEOSE which is the licensing board for peace officers in the state of Texas. My instructor was Marx Howell. Marx has retired from law enforcement but is still active in hypnosis and writes for the National Guild of Hypnotist. You can probably do a search for Inspector Marx Howell and find a contact number for him. If not I know the NGH can put you in contact with him.

If I were considering taking any course for forensic hypnosis with the intention having admissible evidence I would discuss it with him first. I know he teaches but I do not know if he does so by distance. He is an expert in the field and would know of others who offer quality courses in the field. He is also a very nice man and would welcome your questions and an opportunity talk with you.

I hope this helps,

Bill Logsdon
Thanks so much, Bill. Mr. Howell is the one name I was familiar with; I've been to his website - a while back - and will check it out more thoroughly.

Checking with our state about permissible evidence is really the only way to get started, I can see now. Thank you for that tip!

Hi Rita,

I'm new to the profession, I start school in Septmeber. I was scaning the site and happened upon your question. What is Forensic Hyponosis? It sounds very interesting! What states allow for such work?

JR
Hi, JR. Forensic Hypnosis works with accident and crime victims - remembering details, etc.

I'm sure that Bill Logsdon can tell you more about it, since he has certification in Forensics Hypnosis. All I have, at this point, is a strong interest. :-)
