my show design, its flexible and relies on spontanaiety, but instead of scripting a show with skits one after the other, i have branches, like a flowchart or decision tree matrix
i start off with upbeat music to introduce myself and get people involved, getting them to clap and sing along with the track, i use John Farnham Your the Voice, i feed some of the words back into my pre talk, we all stand together, nothing to fear, believe, power to be powerfull etc mixed up with my own take on it, i spend several mins on this, mixing it with humour and current observations and jokes, then i go into my picking my hypnotees, health and safety chat again keeping it fun and light hearted, then doing some suggestibilty, arm locks , silly things like stamping feet and waving hands, again add a few jokes, then i invite people to the seats, saying and emphasising its their show, they have to let the process happen, and add when i have people sitting, only smart people can be hypnotised, idiots and mentally challanged people cant, again i do it with humour, and then i go into whatever induction i decide to do.
as for opening skits, its as i said a branching system, i have several skits and branches i can go down, so the first skit, will be on a bus going to their holiday resort, air con is broken and its getting so hot, then as they go out into the countryside the roads full of pot holes, so they bus is shaking, and now the air con is fixed and its getting colder and chillier, and then i tell them the road is now smooth as the enter their resort and as they look out the window everyone is naked, when they get into the hotel they speak a foreign language they have forgotton english, and when they get to their room, they switch on the tv, they want to relax, deeper and deeper, as they sit on their comfortable bed the go deeper relaxed and as the comedy comes on, they laugh out loud, but they nudge the remote and now its a sad film, and then i finish with a horror film, making them jump out their comfy position, then i get them to relax and sleep and wait on next instruction, alternatively have the same as above, but their on space rocket being the first civilains to live on moon, again at lift off the rocket is hot very hot, as it goes higher and higher it starts to shake and shudder getting hotter, then they are out the atmosphere and its getting bitterly cold, when they get to the moon, they walk to their accomodation in space suits bouncing around, and then when they get into the accomodation, i go to the movies again, but instead of a horror i use a sci-fi, also i have them imagining the meet the clangers, an old UK kids programme, so this is good for 40 plus age group and i have them speaking clanger
i then have maybe 3 options after on my flow chart, for the next set of skits, again i will try and run a few ides together
you are auditioning for a movie or for a band, its your favourite movie star or singer, so if its a movie star, i bring someone from the audience and tell them thats them, you have to inact a love scene or something similar, with a singer, then its you have to dance around them, i then take it further by adding what kind of movie or song it is, and maybe having them say some lines if its the movie, or dance in a particular way if its a song
so thats a rough idea of what i do, i like to have several different ideas at each stage, and if i dont get a response at a stage, i will reverse back and go down a different route and i like the flow chart idea, as you never do the same show twice, the only thing that stays the same is the opening and the rest is random, though within a structure
it might not suit everyone, but i like the flexibility rather than having a set show. i dont use a lot of music in my show, actually hardly any at all, and if i do, its usually at the end to finish off
my show length is not long, 50 mins tops, however i do walk around with some groups afterwards, so i can involve as many people as i can, so i leave things like sticking people to things, name and number amnesia for the aftershow, as i like to talk with as many people as i can and hand out business cards, i dont have any back of the room products as of yet, and its something i need to work on
