Comment by Tom Hickey on March 5, 2012 at 1:59pm I do love the eye lock but you are right Rory, you need to be careful where and when. My own favourite is a bit convoluted but physically involving for the client so even the most dubious find it hard to not be convinced. It involves having the client stand up and holding their arm out straight in front of them. Make a fist and stick the thumb up like a gun sight and aim down along it. Ask them then to turn around using their hips as a pivot so the feet do not move. "Only move as far as is comfortable we dont want you to hurt your back so as soon as there is any resistence STOP. Look down your arm through the thumb and pick a point on the wall." After explaining what a good job they had done tell them to do the twist again this time " telling them to turn as far as they can" They will invariably turn further and when they see how much further they have moved it convinces like no other for me. As I said a bit convoluted but I like the interactive way it works.
Next:-)
Comment by Rory McCauley on March 5, 2012 at 4:57am My sure fire 100% convincer is the automatic finger convincer!
It's one where you get the clients index finger up and down and compare it to there heartbeat. Just like your heart beats all by itself, that finger beats all by itself and then ask them to "Try" and stop that finger but it beats all by itself just like your heart.
I use to really like the eye lock convincer but find I have to be careful when using it.
Comment by Tom Hickey on March 3, 2012 at 3:24pm Right so Convincers who uses them and which one do you swear to God never fails:-)
Comment by Rory McCauley on March 3, 2012 at 10:19am Thanks Tom, good to be on board. Perhaps a discussion on the use of convincers to get us started?
Comment by Tom Hickey on March 1, 2012 at 10:31am Welcome to the group Rory. Now that we have a group what should we do with it folks?

Comment by Tom Hickey on January 24, 2012 at 5:04pm Ok so a "meet up" as it is described by our American colleagues. Anyone here interested in doing something maybe in Feb/March time? Not sure where or when I suppose we could have a vote or something on a venue, ideas what to talk about or just wing it a bit. Let me know. And pass on the idea to any other colleagues who may be interested. Tom
Comment by Michael Bolster on January 13, 2012 at 5:16am Hi Tom,
I was only thinking the same thing a few days ago. As I am very newly starting out I would love to meet others who would be able to advise and learn from.
I can travel no problem to meet, i'm available most weekends.
Comment by Tom Hickey on January 13, 2012 at 5:03am I was just wondering if we trust each other to do a hypnotherapy "meet up" some time? :-)
Comment by Tom Hickey on December 12, 2011 at 1:52pm Good man Michael, very welcome to the group. I'm expecting to be snowed under shortly with more people joining:-) Its such a wide field that picking a sector is difficult but check out as many approaches as you can before making a decision based on what interests you because ultimately that will determine how much you enjoy it all.
